Introduction

In this final project for the module Introduction to Construction Industry, a

group of two students are assigned to find a specific empty land to initiate a

small construction project. The size of the land should between 900m2 to

1200m2.

We selected a site which is near Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus

which is located at Jalan PJS 9/1. We decided to propose recreational area

on the site. We need to come out with two proposals and compile them in a

report. We need to carry out site visit and collecting data from the site. We

also need to determine the rationale, benefit and impacts of our project to

the client and end user.

Site Inventory & Analysis

A. Location

-Near the main road

-Near Sunway Quay

* Poor air quality due to the site is near the main road. Plant more trees in the site to

enhance the air quality.

*Good place to propose recreational area because no recreational area nearby the area and

it is located at the centre of the residential area (easy to access).

B. Drainage

At the end of the site

C. Traffic

-Traffic is quite active especially in the morning and afternoon because it is the way out from

Taylor’s University and the way to Sunway Medical Centre.

Benefit and Impacts of project to the community

A. Benefits

- The community will no longer facing a problem to find a recreational park within the

area.

There are no any other park that can be found within the area.

- The community area will have a green space that can be shared together

Most of the park in the area are small, vandalised and non-accessible.

- The park can be located at the middle of the area

The park are located near the South Quay which is the main road that was

usually used by community to go to any other places such as Sunway

Medical Centre and Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall.

- The community will have a place to relax and spending time with their family

The proposing of this site will provide the community a place for them to

spend their quality time without having to travel outside from the residential

area to find another good place.

- The community will be able to spend their time and money wisely

This will save time for the community to find a place for them to go and spend

The community will take a short walk to go to the park instead of travelling

with cars to go other park. Thus, this will reduce the traffic congestion

especially during the weekend.

- Connecting the community together

The park can be used to hold an event to get the community to be united.

This can also be done by an individual on any other normal day as they are

communicating with others will spending their time at the park.

- Decreasing in the rate of air pollution

The method of planting trees around the park will improve the air circulation.

This can also be supported when there will be lees cars on the road

especially during the weekend.

- One the of the main attraction and pit stop in the community area

The concept of green design in the park will attract the community to go there
