As acilitator it is recommended you practice the suggested cutting solution sothat i necessary you can demonstrate it (beore or aterwards% depending onyour adaptation) to the group.

Beware o using this activity in any situation that could cause embarrassment

to overweight people or where delegates would be uncomortable with theinter-personal proximity re$uired.

#he $ualiication o putting the ring o paper over a given number o people isthat while standing (necessarily very close) together they are able to pass thepaper ring over their heads and down to the loor% enabling them to step overand thereby through the ring without breaking it.

Here is the cutting diagram% assuming thatthe sheet o paper is irst olded. #his isone solution to the exercise. I you know

    another please send it.

Fold the sheet o paper in hal% and cut itthrough both sides o the paper% as shownin the diagram% in the ollowing se$uence1

,ut K-3' slits (K are ade$uate - thediagram shows 3')% rom the olded edgeup to about 3-'cm o the open edge% eachslit being about 3.-'cm apart.

,ut a slit between each o the above slits%rom the open edge to about 3-'cm o theolded edge.

    ,ut along the olded edge% 7ut n$t theends !arked =ith 7ue circes.

ou should then be able to open thepaper into a ring which comortably itsover two people.

,utting more slits increases the si&e othe ring% as would using a larger sheet opaper. +lit dimensions can be increasedor larger sheets.

ou will be surprised how large a ring can be created. An AC sheet easilymakes a ring circumerence o =m. A big newspaper sheet easily produces aring circumerence o Jm.
