DEVIL’S STAIRCASE SEGMENT (1.8 miles) One of the most popular hiking trails in Janesville, the remarkable, remote-feeling route will make hikers forget they are in a city. Located in Riverside Park, this segment traces the limestone escarpment on an elevated ledge above the Rock River – a stepped geological feature warranting the nickname Devil’s Staircase. JANESVILLE SEGMENT (up to 10-miles) This segment follows the City’s extensive paved trail system that links parks to create an urban greenbelt and it is an excellent way to tally some miles and explore downtown Janesville! WHERE TO HIKE ICE AGE TRAIL COMMUNITY JANESVILLE Together with the Ice Age Trail Alliance, Ice Age Trail Communities enhance appreciation and awareness of the natural and scenic beauty of the thousand-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail.
