APPENDIX A TROUBLESHOOTING
Appendix A
A.1 Troubleshooting
This information lists the most common troubleshooting questions. Before contacting the dealer, review this material first. This may help you to solve the problem by yourself and therefore saves your valuable time.
SCENARIO POSSIBLE SOLUTION
I can not connect to the network camera
1. Please confirm the IP address setting of the computer you're using. If the camera and the computer are not in the same subnet, they will not be able to communicate with each other.
2. Please make sure the IP address you used to connect to the network camera is correct.
3. If you forget the IP address of the network camera, you will have to reset it to the factory default value (which is 192.168.2.3) by pressing the 'reset' button on the camera. You'll need a pen or pin to reach the reset button. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds, then try to connect to the network camera with the IP address '192.168.2.3' again.
4. Please make sure the network camera is correctly powered (the 'Power' LED should be on).
A-1
APPENDIX A TROUBLESHOOTING
SCENARIO POSSIBLE SOLUTION
5. If you're trying to connect to the network camera from the Internet, please make sure the port that the network camera uses is not blocked by a firewall or other software / hardware. See Configuring Network Settings (page 3-19) for more details.
6. If the above solutions do not work, contact your dealer for help.
Image refreshes very slow 1. Try a higher frame rate setting, if it's not 30.
2. Try a lower resolution.
3. If you're connecting to this camera from the Internet, it could be caused by a slow Internet connection, instead of a problem with the camera. However, when the net- work connection is slow, you should use a lower frame rate / resolution.
4. Adjust the antenna if you're using a wireless connection. The antenna should be perpendicular to the ground to get the best reception, and the distance between the network camera and the computer / wireless access point should not be too far.
5. Try to adjust the 'MTU' setting if you're using PPPoE to connect to the Internet. Ask your ISP or network administrator for detailed instructions.
A-2
APPENDIX A TROUBLESHOOTING
SCENARIO POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Network camera is not responding 1. Is the network cable or wireless connection disconnected? Please check it.
2. Unplug the power adapter from the wall socket and plug it in again after 10 sec- onds, then try to connect to the network camera again.
3. If the network camera is correctly powered ('Power' LED is on), but you still can not connect to the camera when you're sure the IP address is correct, please contact your dealer for help.
Image is fuzzy 1. Adjust the focus ring on the camera until the image becomes clear.
2. Use a soft cloth to clean the lens on the camera. You can use a cloth with water, but DO NOT use alcohol or other chemical solutions.
3. Try to adjust the brightness setting.
4. If there are any lights where the network camera is located, switch them on and see if the image looks better.
A-3
APPENDIX A TROUBLESHOOTING
SCENARIO POSSIBLE SOLUTION
I set the network camera to send images by email or FTP, but nothing is received
1. If the image is sent by email, please make sure it's not blocked by any anti-spam mechanism.
2. Please make sure you have enough permission for FTP uploading (You can try this by clicking the Upload a Test File button).
3. If your SMTP server requires authentication, make sure the username and / or password of the SMTP server is correct (You can try this by clicking the Send a Test Email button).
4. Please check the log, if the FTP upload or email sending has failed, it will be logged, and this may give you some clue on how to solve the problem.
5. Change the threshold to a more sensitive setting.
I heard strange sounds when I use the pan / tilt function
1. Please check if anything has jammed the camera, and remove it.
2. If the camera does not respond to you when you're trying to use the pan / tilt func- tion, the servo motor inside the camera may be dead. Please return the camera to the dealer and ask for help.

B.1 Configuring Your PC’s IP Address
If you are unable to locate the network camera with the Edi- View Finder utility and there is no DHCP server in your net- work environment, perform the following instructions to manually set up an IP address that is within the same net- work segment as your network camera.
If the first three segments of the IP address of your com- puter is not 192.168.2, you must change the IP address of your computer first.
Note: The default IP address of this camera is 192.168.2.3. If you wish to assign another IP address to this camera, refer to Configuring Network Settings (page 3-19)
