“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”Matthew 28:19-20

I now have some family who live in the north of South Africa, so my grandma often travels 18 hours on a bus to go see them. While I was home last year, we had a family gathering. My grandma mentioned that she was planning to take another 18 hour bus ride to go and see my uncle. I said to her, “Mamma, you are old and should not be taking long bus rides. It’s uncomfortable and not good for your health. Why would you take a long bus ride when you can get to your destination within 2 hours by plane?” She replied that she wanted to take the bus and did not like flying to J’burg. I then said to her that it’s much easier and more comfortable with the plane. This was her reply: “Well, the problem is that you get on the plane and get there in only 2 hours.” In my mind, I was trying to figure out how that could be a prob-lem compared to an 18 hour journey, but I allowed her to continue. “People on the plane don’t speak to you and you never get to know people. When I’m on the bus, I meet other old ladies and we talk and become friends. We stop at places to have a look together and when we reach our destination we exchange contacts and remain friends. The plane might be quicker, but you don’t get that on a plane.” I then understood that for Mamma it was not just about getting to a place, but it was about how you get to that place. It’s about the experience on the journey. It’s about the journey, and even though it’s not the most comfortable journey, she loved the journey because of the experience. It was also about the people she jour-neyed with. We have been in a 7 year journey here at YWAM Island Breeze Sydney. We have had some amazing staff, students, families and friends on this journey. At times, the journey felt long and difficult. There were times that I thought that we were not going to make it and wanted to give up, but I thank God for the people He has placed with us in this journey. Without them, without you, we would not be here today. We have learned valuable lessons and have grown in this journey. I have come to learn that’s it not just about reaching the goal or destination, but what happens on the way and who you have with you is equally important. So we have reached thousands of people, seen great transformation, people healed and lives changed. However, without you it would not have been possible because God placed you in our lives. Last year in May, we added to our journey the purchasing of the Crossview (for-mally known as New Tribes Mission) property for $2.4 million. We knew entering the contract that we would not be able to do this and come up with the money. So why did we sign the contract knowing that? Because we had the word of the Lord to do it, and we know that He is bringing people on the journey to experience His miracles with us. He wants us to be part of the impossible so that He can get all the glory - just like in the days of Gideon when He called a small number to defeat the multitudes. I want to invite you to get on the bus with us and take this journey. Together, we can do so much more in the Kingdom of God. Hop on and see our zeal for the Lord, and let’s walk together. Are you one of the people that God placed on our journey to see us purchase this property, our home, God’s dwelling, where we see people healed, discipled and sent out?

May God bless you, Etienne Pieterse

The journey of the YWAM Island Breeze Sydney cam-pus is one full of faith and God’s providence. Since the 1st of April 2007, God has begun to rise up this campus for mighty works, for reaching the nations and its in-digenous peoples. Sydney has been called “the gateway” in and out of the nations and God has strategically re-established the presence of a faithful YWAM ministry in the area of Western Sydney, which is the lowest socio-economic area in Sydney. It started as a feeling in 2006 that God was prompting Etienne Pieterse and his family to move to Sydney to pi-oneer the YWAM ministry there, after its closing a few years prior. In March of 2007, Etienne, his wife, Tania and their children, Chloe and Elisha, packed up their car and drove to Sydney. Even without a place to stay, they went with the assurance that God had called them there. When the first outreach team arrived in Sydney, their first task was to build the beds in which they would be sleeping in at a house acquired that very same day. After the trip, a seasoned leader called it “the best out-reach they ever had.” As all visitors to the YWAM Island Breeze Sydney are, they were part of a movement. May of 2007 kicked off ten days of prayer at the base. Through this time, God began to shape the atmosphere of prayer, worship and the Word. The team could feel God beginning to move, shaping their ministries and the very land around them. To those they had ministered to, God brought healing, revival and salvation. In those first two months, they saw over 30 people give their lives to the Lord. In September 2007, they held their first Disci-pleship Training School (DTS) with 7 students from 6 different nations. Since then we have run over 10 DTS’s and have had more than 300 students, continuing to always have multi-cultural DTS’s. The campus also of-fers multiple second-level schools beyond DTS, such as Transformational Leadership Seminar, School of Wor-shipping Warriors and Biblical Core Course. God is also growing staff, from 5 in 2007 to more than three times that number in a few months and still growing today with 30 staff from all different nations.

Youth With A Mission was started in 1968 in Sydney. Over the years, there have been many ministries in Sydney with one of the most diffi cult challenges being to fi nd a facility that is suitable for training and growth.

In 2008, God made a way for YWAM Island Breeze Sydney to rent a wonderful facility from CrossView Australia (formally known as New Tribes Mission).

Since 2008, we have been renting and waiting on the Lord. We had, on many occasions, asked if CrossView Australia would sell us the building, with always the same answer being, “No.” How-ever, in October 2012, CrossView Australia came to us with an off er to purchase.

This campus has been serving us and others for the last three years. The campus will continue to serve as a launching pad to make disciples of all nations. This facility that we call our home has everything we could possibly ask for. It provides our staff and students with good accommodation that they can proudly call home for the season that they are serving or studying at YWAM Island Breeze Sydney. It gives us an amazing training facility

Buying Our First YWAM Island Breeze Sydney Campus for $2.4MOn the 16th of May 2013, after a lot of prayer and seeking wis-dom from God, YWAM Island Breeze Sydney faithfully took on the challenge of signing a contract to buy the campus in order to have a permanent training facility in Sydney. This facility is ideal to have our various training courses and ministries operate from. With much excitement, we are now trusting the Lord to bring in

which is perfect to run our University of the Nations (UofN) courses and has all the space we need to host corporate activities with the potential to expand if needed. We can comfortably house anywhere from 100 – 150 people. The campus has also become a meeting place for pastors in our local area. We are very blessed to serve the wider body of Christ with pastors using our prayer rooms on a weekly basis.

the finance for His work. The campus is ideal for us to continue growing both our training and ministries here in Sydney and in the nations. We have seen God move in various ways over the past years and are excited to see Him do greater things. Purchas-ing this particular campus is key to sustaining the growth of our ministries.

In 1969, God called Loren and Darlene Cunningham to pi-oneer a mission that would see thousands of young people go into missions like waves. Today, we have seen much of this vision come to pass, yet so many still need to hear the truth and find freedom in Jesus. Dean Sherman came to Syd-ney, Australia in the late 1960s to see a campus established to disciple people from all over the world and send them to reach the unreached. Today, we are standing at the verge of seeing that vision become a reality. God called a commu-nity of passionate YWAMers to Sydney to establish a place for training and evangelism with the vision and passion for the lost burning deep in their hearts. The time to build the future is now - but it will take a growing community of Pioneering Partners to help us make the CrossView Aus-tralia building the home of YWAM Island Breeze Sydney. To see the vision God has for YWAM Island Breeze Syd-ney become a reality, we need $2.4 million ($AUD) that needs to be paid in full by the 15th of May 2015. We have been pre-approved for a $500,000 loan. We have bor-rowed the deposit of $250,000 and have a payment due of $400,000 15th May 2014. That leaves $1,650,000 to be paid by 15th May 2015. Our heart’s desire is to pay for the build-ing as soon as possible and not take the entire two years.

To See Vision Fulfilled

- $500,000 by December 2013- $700,000 by June 2014- $700,000 by December 2014- $500,000 by May 2015

Targeted Financial Goals

God is calling forth a community of champions who rec-ognise that the future of our nations and global commu-nity really are inseparably linked to the character of our rising generation of leaders. We invite you to join with us and be one of those Pioneering Partners, bringing others along who will follow you and being one of history’s few who answer the call to sacrifice and help change the world in their lifetime.
