Directions (Q. 1-8): Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:
Child psychology is certainly not a strong point for most of the Indian schools; why else would they
inflict double trauma on the students failing badly in the pre-boards by banning them from taking the
board exams? This often gives fatal results as evidenced by reports of student suicides in the run-up to
the boards. Now the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has stepped in and has put brakes on
this discriminatory practice. It has ruled that no student can be barred from the boards without prior
clearance from the CBSE. This is good news for parents and students, many of whom have had to live
under the threat of performance-linked debarment. While the schools' logic is that in order to attract
talented students, it needs to maintain performance records at high levels. It is faulty to assume that a
student failing badly at pre-boards will replicate the performance at boards. There are chances that the
student will be spurred to double the effort. On the other hand, the threat of debarment will certainly
have adverse impact on their performance. Of course, linking pre-boards to the boards is one of the
problems with our school system.

26. (3); Let his monthly salary be x.
So the amount left with him is (100 - 22) = 78 % of x.
Because, X x
= 9360 Therefore, x = 12000
Therefore, His yearly income is 12 x 12000 = 1.44 lakh
27. (1); Let their present ages be x and y years
Therefore,
=
and x + y = 42
Ie 4x = 3y ….(i) and x + y = 42 …..(ii)
From these two equations, x = 18 and y = 24
Therefore, Age of A and B after six years will be 24 and 30 years
Therefore, Ratio =

28. (2); Let the cost of one chair be x and one table be y.
Therefore, 15x + 10y = 20000
Multiplying this equations by
we get
15x x
+ 10y x
= 20000 x
29. (5); (?)2 = 21x + 14y = 80 x 245 = 19600

30. (4); Purchase price = 4000
Repair charge = 4000 x

Therefore, Cost = 48000
Now he wants a profit of Rs. 520.
Let the % he should add be x.
Therefore, 4000 (
