Common Packaging & License Types

• Component/Module Based

– Customer purchases a single product and then adds additional

capabilities as needed from the portfolio

• Bundle Based

– A product that represents a collection of components/modules

that are commonly used together (i.e. SPSS Modeler Gold, SPSS

Statistics Professional etc.)

• Client

– Applied to the client component of SPSS software (i.e. IBM SPSS

Statistics Client, IBM SPSS Modeler Client, etc.) and is meant to

support a user working with the client on their desktop

Common Packaging & License Types

• Server

– Users continue to interact with the analytical software through

their desktop while the server software provides scale, additional

features and integration points to operational systems.

– If licensee wishes to run any applicable IBM SPSS Server Programs

in a server environment, then authorized entitlements to both

the client and server versions of the Programs are required.

• Software as a Service (SaaS)

– Access to select SPSS technologies through the cloud.

– Build and deploy predictive models directly into business processes

– Achieved with Decision Management, combining predictive analytics with rules,

scoring and optimization with org’s processes & ops systems for recommended actions

at POI.

– SPSS Modeler Premium (client & server) + Collaboration & Deployment Services + Analytical

Decision Management

• IBM SPSS Modeler Premium

– Range of advanced algorithms & capabilities incl. text analytics, entity analytics and

social network analytics to address a multitude of business problems & analytic

requirements on almost any type of data

– SPSS Modeler Professional + Text Analytics + Entity Analytics + Social Network Analysis

• IBM SPSS Modeler Professional

– Range of advanced algorithms, data manipulation & automated modeling and preparation

techniques to build predictive models and uncover hidden patterns in structured data.

– Allows access to IBM SPSS Modeler Server.

• IBM SPSS Modeler Personal

– Design and build predictive models from your desktop.

– No access to SPSS Modeler Server.

Licensing Types

• Authorized User (Perpetual)

– An Authorized client entitles a license to be used by a single, named individual.

– Authorized licenses cannot be shared by multiple users.

• Authorized User Initial Fixed Term (12 months only)

– Same as Authorized User license but valid for 12 months only.

– If you want to renew for another 12 months, you will be buying another fixed term

license.

• Concurrent User (Perpetual)

– Concurrent licensing enables organizations to share usage between multiple users

up to the licensing limit.

– For example, 10 concurrent licenses will enable the organization to have 10 users

accessing the client at any one time. The 11th

user trying to access the environment

will be told by the system to wait until a license is available.

• Processor Value Units (PVU)

– The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology

(defined within the PVU Table by Processor Vendor, Brand, Type and Model Number)

and the number of processors made available to the Program

– Price scales linearly with the amount of underlying hardware

Server Pricing is by PVU

• A PVU is a “processor value unit”.

– Most IBM server software is licensed in this manner

– It is a way to license software based on the number of Value

Units assigned to each processor core.

– PVU levels are established for each processor core

• E.g. 50, 70, 100

Getting to a PVU Price = # of CPU x # of cores/CPU x #PVU/core x Price per PVU

1. Customer gives type of hardware & processor, # of CPU and # cores per CPU

2. IBM provides #PVU/core

3. Brand / SQO provides price per PVU – example: Product X is $100 per PVU

Sold as Editions – Modeler Personal, Modeler Professional, Modeler Premium, Modeler Gold

License Structure Client + Server. Server optional for Premium/Professional. Required for Gold

License Requirements Where the customer has the client + server, the edition must be identical. For example, only Modeler Gold Client can be used with Modeler Gold Server.

Forward Looking Analytics Administrator

• FLAA license allows the user to install a single instance of IBM

SPSS Modeler Professional Client. The user does need any

additional Modeler licenses, unless if they want to use the

product for anything outside the scope of BI, such as normal

Predictive Analysis like credit scoring, claims processing or

clustering etc.

• FLAA license provides limited use, this refers to what the SPSS

Modeler Client can be used for. In this case, the SPSS Modeler

Client can only be used to import data (from any source) or

list reports from Cognos BI/Analytics to SPSS to do predictive

analysis and export the results for consumption via Cognos

BI/ Analytics platform.
