Firmware Release 860 Service Pack 1 (860.1) Provides comprehensive support for the Power E850C server across all geographies, delivering remaining PowerVM capabilities and new I/O feature support above. This Service Pack will require an IPL to apply on any system that shipped initially with FW 860.0.

Provides initial support for the Power E850C server with the exception of the following PowerVM capabilities and new I/O features, for which support is planned to be delivered subsequently in Firmware Release 860 Service Pack 1 (860.1).

IBM’s API Connect & WebSphere Connect

Open source cloud automation and configuration tooling for AIX  IBM has expanded its commitment to keep key open source cloud management packages updated and to provide timely security fixes in order to enable clients to leverage open source skills. Power E850C server clients are well positioned to take advantage of key packages recently provided to enable cloud automation, including:• chef automation for configuration, deployment, and management.

IBM is collaborating along with clients in this community to provide useful resources for using chef with AIX systems.

• yum package management is now available with repository access from both ftp and https protocols. rpm is also updated to enable automatic dependency discovery.

• cloud-init and all dependencies are now available in the repository andincludessupport for licensed AIX users. For more information see the AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications website.

Securely connect system of record workloads and data to cloud native applications IBM’s API Connect and IBM WebSphere Connect provide secure connectivity to cloud-based applications, giving clients the ability to rapidly develop new applications and services accelerating their time to value. IBM’s Power to Cloud services can help clients get started with these solutions and in designing new applications leveraging IBM’s Bluemix, which enables clients’ to rapidly build, deploy, and manage their cloud applications, while tapping a growing ecosystem of available services and runtime frameworks.

IBM Cloud Starter PackTo assist clients with a hybrid cloud infrastructure, clients receive an offer to access a POWER8 Linux bare metal system in the IBM Cloud (SoftLayer) for six months with the purchase of a Power E850C.

IBM Power to Cloud Rewards Program The IBM Power to Cloud Rewards Program helps clients design, build and deliver clouds platforms on IBM Power Systems.  IBM Power to Cloud Rewards points can be used for a range of services focused on transforming from traditional IT platforms to private and hybrid cloud platforms.

Power to Cloud Rewards Program services offerings leverage the proven expertise of IBM Systems Lab Services consultants.

Cloud-based HMC Apps as a Service  The new HMC Apps as a Service is an offering that provides clients the capability to aggregate Power Systems performance and inventory data from across their enterprise, removing the burden of manual collection and aggregation of system information. These IBM-developed applications are hosted in a secure cloud and will provide health state, geo tagging, and threshold alerts that can be accessed through a secure portal from clients’ mobile devices. When clients purchase a new Power E850C, E870C or E880C server, they are entitled to this new service offering at no additional charge. The performance and inventory applications are initially scheduled to be offered in a technology preview in 2016 and to be followed by a full GA offering with more applications in 2017.
