Ibiza, is the largest of the IslasPityusas, with a maximum

length of 30 miles and amaximum breadth of 15 miles,and the nearest of the Balearicsto the coast of Spain, wasunknown and untouched untilthe 1960s, when it suddenlyappeared in Europes vacationbrochures along with Benidormand Torremolinos.

The countryside, particularly inthe north, is a rural patchwork ofgroves of almonds, figs andolives, and wooded hills. Ibiza

The Balearic Islands, standing at a crossroads in the Mediterranean, have been colonized or plundered inturn by Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans... Finally in 798 the islands were conquered by theArabs. After the disintegration of the Caliphate of Cordoba the islands became the haunt of pirates,, whoharried shipping off the coasts of Spain and Italy.

Breakfast and free time to enjoy the beach. Optional excursion to Cala Salada, surrounded by pineforested hills, a sandy little cove ideal for residents and private boat owners.On the rocky promontory to the right, paths leading over the top to the little fringe of sandy beach beyond.To the left are boathouses built into the rock. Well trodden paths leading into the hills are popular for walkin this unspoiled area. Once there discover the pleasure of diving in water with a crystal clear visibility anda nearly tropical variety of fauna. Diving in caves and wrecks you can see big halibuts, barracudas,morays, lobsters anything you can imagine and more while running activities such as scuba diving andsnorkeling.

We could arrange a trip to Formentera island, just 30 minutes away by ferry, or drive along the cliffsinto one of the most remarkable coves in town, Cala Conta, reachable by ferry, bus or car. This littlecove consist in two stretches of sandy beach, backed by rocky terrain, with a third, smaller beach atthe far end and reach by steps hewn into the rock.Formentera is a largely unspoiled island where the waters are blue and the way of life slow. Fromthe small port of La Savina, where the boat docks, there are buses to other parts of the island. Youcan also hire a bicycle, and spend a day being spellbound by the simple beauty of the beachesand villages of this little paradise island. Formentera great strength is not its history and culture, butits landscape, which has a spare and delicate beauty and some of the Mediterraneans lastunspoiled shorelines.
