iAIRPROVIDING CLEAN PERSONAL AIR

CONTENT

A UN Climate Change Report on September 27,

indicated scientists are 95% certain climate

change is due to man-made pollution

Contrary to popular belief, indoor air pollution is

2 to 5 times worse than air quality outside

People most susceptible to air pollution are children and the

elderly. Nearly 75% of Americans live with someone

with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory illnesses

CHALLENGE

Air purification products currently exist. We wanted to

conceive a solution that went beyond; to create a sphere of

fresh air that reconnected an individual with nature

Given the biological nature of poor IAQ, a solution based on

biological processes is fitting: Biomimicry

To achieve a solution that will capture carbon dioxide from

the personal space and convert into oxygen using the

principles of photosynthesis

Sustainable and non-toxic components must only be

used. Any other materials will only contribute to the problem

at hand and must be avoided at all costs

OBJECTIVE

iAir will be initially marketed to parents of children with

respiratory illness, as caused by poor IAQ

To ensure mass appeal, it is imperative to design a family of

products available at various price points and scales

The carbon emissions tracker – a component of iAIR – will

ensure a healthier lifestyle as incentives can be awarded to

low-income markets that best utilize this feature

The iAIR will not cause allergic reactions, and will not require

maintenance - water, sun, soil

RESOURCES

A multi-collaborative effort will be needed for the success of

this endeavor

With an increase of awareness and education of IAQ,

populations can learn to take positive action

COMPLETION

Significant costs will be budgeted to research new

sustainable technology. This would ensure iAIR is conceived

in tandem with future UN Climate Change meetings

EVALUATION

iAIR will succeed if it has an overall effect on the environment

and creates awareness about poor IAQ – a term known as

Environmental Literacy

iAIR will succeed if it reduces toxic levels from personal

spaces and thereby provides a certain perimeter of personal

space with renewed air, i.e., clean “oxygen”

iAIR : MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE.
