Dennis McNultyWarren Central

Dennis McNulty graduated from Greenwood High School in 1972, received his BA in 1977 from Indiana Central, and his MA from Indiana University in 1982. Mac ran in 3 NCAA College Division Cross Country National Championships and was thetop Indiana finisher at the Boston Marathon in 1975 with a 2:37:00. He began coaching at Clarksville High School in 1977, went to Noblesville High School in 1981, then onto Maconaquah High School in 1985, and has been at Warren Central since 1987. Dennis has been nominated for IATCCC's Coach of the Year in track 9 times. He was the IATCCC's Coach of the Year for boys' track in 1995 and 1996. He was the National High School Federation District IV Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996. Dennis started the first Hoosier State Games (White River Park State Games) in 1982 and has been a USATF Master Official, being certified in all events at all levels. He was past President of Indiana USATF (Indiana TAC) in 1987 and was Region VI Coordinator for USATF (Indiana TAC) from 1986-1988. Mac was a track and field Official at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and on the stadium announcing staff during Atlanta's 1996 Olympic Games. In 1997, he was a member of the coaching staff for an International Sports Exchange Trip to China. He has been the track and field announcer for the Big East Conference since 1999 and announced the NCAA Cross Country Finals in 2002 and 2004. Dennis is also the author of the acclaimed publication, Indiana's Best; an annual review of Indiana high school track and cross country. In boys' track, Mac coached IHSAA State Team Champions in 1995 and 1996. His team was IHSAA State Runner-up in 2005. He coached 5 Regional and 5 Sectional Championship teams in 1995, 1996, 2003, 2004, and 2005. He coached teams to 7 IHSAA Top 10 State Meet finishes. Additionally, Mac has coached 5 Individual IHSAA State Track Champions and 6 Individual IHSAA State Runner-ups. He coached 4 IHSAA Relay State Champions and 1 IHSAA Relay State Runner-up. In all, he has coached 130 IHSAA All State track and field medal winners and coached 15 Indiana All- Stars who have competed in the Midwest Meet of Champions.

Coach Potter's Career: From 1972 to 1975, Bob Potter coached at Maconaquah High School. His teams won two MIC Championships and He coached the school's first state individual runner-up. For one year, Bob's family moved to Lake Park High School in Chicago where he was field events and cross-country coach. His field event athletes went 1-2 in every field event in their conference meet and Bob coached a 1976 triple jump state finalist. In 1976, the Potters moved home and Bob has been at Lawrence North ever since. Few people have been such a fixture at Lawrence North High School as Coach Bob Potter. Opening the school in 1976, Coach Potter became the first and only boys head track coach. For thirty-four years at Maconaquah, Lake Park and LN, Coach Potter, through his tireless dedication to youth, has put his athletes in a positive light throughout the state and country. Coach Potter’s teams won IHSAA State Championships in 1990, 2001, 2002, and 2003. His teams also were state runner-ups in 1988 and 1993. In Coach Potter's career, his teamswon nineteen conference championships, nine sectional and eight regional championships.Bob has coached eighteen individual state champions and three relay team state champions. He has had twenty-two individual state runner-ups and six runner-up relay teams. There have been one hundred twenty-eight state medal winners and two hundred and thirty-two state finalists that have been coached by Coach Bob Potter. Bob has coached fourteen Indiana All Stars, thirty-six All Americans, three National Champions, two Olympic Trials qualifiers, and two Indiana Hall of Fame Inductees. Bob also had a football-coaching career. Bob spent twenty-five years in football and for the first twenty-two years at Lawrence North, he was the only defensive back coach. From 1984 to 1988 Bob was The President of the IATCCC and for nineteen years was the IATCCC’s clinic director. Coach Potter was nominated nineteen years for the IATCCC State Track Coach of the Year, and was selected the IATCCC State Coach of the Year in 1990, 1991, 2001, 2002, and 2003. In 1989, he was chosen the IHSCA State Track Coach of the Year. Bob was the head coach of the Indiana All Star Team in 1982 and was on the staff three other years. For eleven years, Coach Potter was CSAC coach of the year and three years he was MIC coach of the year. Coach Potter was the RCA Dome meet organizer for nine years. In 1996 he officiated at the Summer Olympic Games. Bob worked at the Pan Am Games, and served as the Meet Director of the World Police and Fire Games.

Dick Leming - Northfield Dick Leming has coached 8 cross country teams to the IHSAA state

finals; six boys' and two girls'. His teams also won ten consecutive boys'

Sectional and Regional cross country titles. He’s coached track athletes

to sixteen spots in the IHSAA state finals; eight finishing in the top ten.

Dick was also a Mid East Cross Country coach for five years; three as an

assistant and two as the head coach. He has also been named IATCCC

Coach of the Year ten times for class 1A -2A schools. In addition, Coach

Leming’s teams have won twenty-four team conference championships.

At the age of 48, Dick cleared 13' in the pole vault. He’s also coached

one of his sons to two state medals in the pole vault, and another son to

two state medals in cross country.

Toyinda Smith Wilson - Gary Lew Wallace Toyinda Smith Wilson entered Purdue’s track program as a walk-on and completed her throwing career as a highly decorated athlete. She was the 1999 NCAA Indoor Champion in the Weight Throw with a distance of 68'9". She won the Big Ten Indoor Conference meet in 1998 and 1999in the weight throw with a heave of 59'10.5” and 61'7", respectively. In 2002, Toyinda finished third in the indoor USATF National competition in the 20-pound weight throw. Her throw surpassed her collegiate best by more than 3 feet. In 1998 and 1999, she won the Big Ten Hammer Throw with marks of 182'5" and 181'8", respectively. Toyinda was the 1997 Big Ten Discus Champion with a toss of 166'2". In addition, she was the 1996 Big Ten Runner-up in the discus as a freshman with a throw of 152'9" and again as a junior in 1998 with a throw of 163'0". She has completed the USATF Level I Track and Field Coaches Education Program and aspires to become a collegiate coach in the future. Toyinda is the mother of two children, Aryal 3, and Tristan 1 ½ and works as the Residential Life Manager for Young Hall at Purdue University. She continues to live by the Beckman Middle School Motto: “Good, Better, Best, I'll Never Rest; Until Good is Better and Better is Best.”

Phil Wysong - West Noble

Phil Wysong was a 2 time IHSAA State Champion. In cross country,

he was 1st in 1970 and runner-up in 1971. In track, he was 5th in the

mile run in 1970 and won the IHSAA State Championship with a 4:19.5

in 1972. Phil had a high school PR of 4:12.72 in 1971.

While at Indiana University, Phil was on seven Big 10 Championship

teams . He ran a 4:07.4 split on IU's 16:26.9 Indoor World Record 4x1

Mile Relay Team in 1974. He was 2nd in the Big 10 2-mile in 1974 with

an 8:48.1 PR. Phil was also 2nd in the Big 10 steeplechase in 1976. In

1974, he was 3rd in the Big 10 mile with a 4:05.6 PR. At the Big 10

Cross Country Championships, Phil was 9th in 1973 and 15th in 1972.

Lynn Reed - South Bend Clay

Lynn was a two time sprint State IHSAA Champion in 1974. Her

winning time in the 100 yard dash was 11.1 and her winning time

in the 440 yard dash was 57.3. Lynn’s career best time in the 100

yard dash was 10.8. Her career best time in the 440 was 56.7. She

set the 1974 AAU record time in the 220 yard dash at 24.1.

While running for the Lawrence Track Club, her 440 relay team

set the national record of 47.3 in 1974.

Kerry was a 2 time IHSAA State Champion. She won the 800 meters

in 1991 with a 2:14.16 and again won in 1992 with a 2:13.10. Kerry

also earned the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award her senior year in 1992.

She ran a 2:13.0 to place 3rd in the Keebler International Invitational

and ran a 2:11.9 to place 3rd in the Golden West Invitational in 1992.

Kerry was All-ACC in 1993 and 1994 for Florida State University

and recorded a 2:10.5 PR. She won the prestigious Golden Torch Award

for the outstanding Track/Cross Country/Academic woman, while

attending Florida State.

Coach Holman's Career:th Mike Holman is in his 28 year of coaching

thtrack and field and his 18 at Lawrence Central. He’s coached cross country for 25 years and is the only cross country coach to have two individual state champions from two different schools: Matt Grady of Muncie Northside in 1982 and Nick Middleton, ofLawrence Central in 1991. Both Grady and Middleton have been inducted to the IATCCC

thHall of Fame. Coach Holman's cross country team placed 11 in 1981 and He has coached 5 All-State runners including Alan Brammer, Matt Grady, Nick Middleton, Dayna Zmikly and Jim Vance. His Lawrence Central track and field teams have won IHSAA State Championships in 1998 and 2005, and were runner-ups in 1994 and was an assistant coach on the 1990 team. The 1998 State Championship was the first out-right state title in the 70 year history of Lawrence Central. Holman has coached 18 individual state champions in 9 different events with 3 relay state champions. In addition, he’s had 10 individual runner-ups and 5 relay team runner-ups. In all, Coach Holman has had over 140 athletes qualify for the state championship meet, covering all 16 events, with over 100 state place winners. He has coached 10 Indiana All-Stars, 4 All-Americans and 1 National Champion. Coach Holman's track and field teams have placed in the top 5 in the state meet 13 times, and have won 18 Conference Championships, 4 Marion County Championships, 15 Sectional Championships and 8 Regional Championships. Coach Holman has been nominated for IATCCC Coach of the Year 9 times, winning 3 times. He’s also been Conference Coach of the year 17 times, Ball State Alumni Coach of the year 5 times, District IV Coach of the Year in 1998 and was in the final 8 for National Coach of the Year in 1998 Coach Holman has served the IATCCC in the past as President of for 4 years, Vice President for 4 years, and Clinic Director for 10 years, taking the clinic from 1 day to the current 3 day format. He has been a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach for IATCCC Track and Cross Country All-Star Teams. He was Co-Meet Director with Bob Potter for the RCA Dome Indoor Meets for 9 years. Coach Holman has been selected as an Assistant Coach for the United States World Indoor Championships staff for 2006. The meet will be held in Moscow, Russia from March 5-13 of 2006. In 1999, he was selected as an Assistant Coach for the USA Junior Pan Am Team in Tampa, Florida. Coach Holman started and still organizes Elite Training Camps for USATF and the United States Olympic Committee. The camps are held at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, California. Athletes attending the camps must be ranked in the top 25 in the United States. Coach Holman recruits some of the top track and field coaches in the world,

thas well as former Olympians, as lead instructors for the camps. The 2005 camp was the 10 consecutive camp with a budget of over $20,000.00.
