During Recess…I AM SO

COMPETITION THIS YEAR!

Yes, let’s go talk to

Mr. M in the music room!

Page 9: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

Good morning Mr. M. My name is

George and these are my friends

Tony, Marina and Mira

Good morning kids. How can I help you?

We heard about the music competitionand we would like

to sign up.

Welcome everyon

e!

In the Music Room…Wow! Are all these

musical instruments?

I’ve never seen that many before.

Me too! I wanna play the guitar.

Wait, whyare all the

instruments so dusty? It seems like

no one is using them.

Page 11: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

That’s true. These instruments

haven’t been used for a long time. That’s why I thought

about the music competition so we can start using these instruments and encourage

everyone to participate.

My friends at church always participate in Mahragan Alkeraza choir competition. They learn how to

play different musical

instruments.

Page 12: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

I always wanted to learn how to play an instrument. Can you teach us how to use these instruments?

Of course! That’s why I’m here. Feel free

to pick any instrument

you want. But there is a

smallproblem...

Page 13: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

Well since these instruments haven’t been used for a long time, some aren’t working and need to be fixed. It’s too much work for me to do by myself. Can

you help me?

Of course! Just tell us what to do.

Page 14: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

What’s wrong Mr. M?

I’m sorry, all this dust makes me sick. When I was

younger, I used to do this job all by myself, but now I

can’t.

Don’t worry Mr. M. We’re here to help you. Go get some

rest, we’ll clean the room and call you

whenwe’re done.

Page 15: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

Thank you very much. I’ll wait in the other room until you finish. But be careful and don’t move the box over there or

anything beside it. That box is very important.

Page 16: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

I’m coming. Wow, this drum is huge. Of course you can’t lift it, I’m the only one who can because I’mthe strongest.

While Mr. M was gone…Please come help me, this

drum is too big! I can’t move it

by myself.

I’m coming. Wow, this drum is huge. Of course you can’t lift it, I’m the only one

who can because I’m the strongest.

Be careful, the drum is on the box that Mr. M told us

not to touch.

Don’t worry.

I’I’

Ouch! My head! Who

dropped me?

Who’s talking? Where is this sound coming

from?

I’m the poor drum that you just

dropped.My head hurts.

What?! How are

you speaking?

That’s really

strange.

I told you not to

move it.

I’m an old drum and I’ve been here for a long

time. I was happy to hear

about the competition.

Who are you?

Finally, someone will use me after the

many years that I’ve been sitting here

doing nothing.

Page 21: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

I’m coming. Wow, this drum is huge. Of course you can’t lift it, I’m the only one who can because I’mthe strongest.

Are you saying that if I wasn’t big

and my tone wasn’t strong,

you wouldn’t like to listen to me?

I like you the most because

you’re the biggest out of all the instrumentsand your tone is the strongest.

Well no, I know that the

strongest always wins. Didn’t you

notice that I’mstronger than all my friends?

Page 22: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

1) He was being prideful “I’m stronger than all my friends!”

What did George do wrong?

Page 23: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

2) He thinks that real strength comes from outside

Does GOD look from the outside or the inside??

Hmmm….

What else?

Page 24: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

We see… God sees…

- Nice hair- Nice clothes- Nice toys- Big & strong

arms/legs…- We see the

outside!

- Loving heart- Kind heart- Humble heart- Generous Heart- God Sees the

inside!

Page 25: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

God told Samuel to find a new king Samuel chose Eliab, a man who looked like he

would make a great king, from the outside. Eliab was strong, big, and nice-looking. But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at

his outward appearance, for I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

David & Eliab

I’m coming. Wow, this drum is huge. Of course you can’t lift it, I’m the only one who can because I’mthe strongest.

That’s right- real strength isn’t

physical. Physical strength doesn’t always win. This reminds me of

Offero, who is also known as St.

Christopher. We will learn about St.

Christopher next week.

He thought that his physical strength

was most important but through his strong will and

God’s help, he was able to change and understand the real

meaning of strength.

Page 27: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

So true power means to love everyone and use my power and strength to help them?

Very good George, you got it. Don’t

forget that it’s God who gave

you your physical power. And

remember the verse that says:

Page 28: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

“That the excellence of the power may be

of God and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7

Memory Verse

Page 29: I Want to Change for the BETTER!

Does God look at the outside or at the inside?

Does He care more about how we look or how we love others?

What can I change, to improve the inside? What can I keep doing that pleases God?
