My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning—Yes, more than those who watch for the morning” (Psalm 130:5-6). Since last Friday, May 15, when word quickly spread that one of our precious young girls had been near fatally injured, we as a church family and a community of students, teachers, friends and neighbors have waited. At the writing and printing of this article we continue to wait for what is next. When we wait, we condition our hearts to see the goodness of the Lord and to put the fullness of our trust in Him. Waiting brings about an opportunity for time to be filled, but filled with purposeful and meaningful moments, and not the idleness of devious minds or sensational stories. While we wait, our strength is found not in knowing the details and the description of the events of a May afternoon are immaterial. Our strength is found in knowing the Lord who sets atop of the earth is fully aware of all things, and I need not be aware of every itemized detail in order to have my prayer centered on His abiding presence with those whose hearts need Him the most. Questions and whispers about a family, a young heart, and an unwanted scenario should be silenced. If questions are to be asked, let them come in the form of “Have you prayed?” Should you feel the need to whisper, let the words you utter under your breath be only to the “Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (II Corinthians 1:3). While we wait we draw courage from parents who are drawn closer to one another and who have surrendered their ability to see to their faith (II Corinthians 5:7). Our courage is from watching a community share in a collective pause in order that we might petition our God for His help. Our courage is built on the confidence of an awesome God and not the cliche’s of bad theology. “If it’s the Lord’s will” or “He won’t put on us more than we can bear” place only misfortune in the hands of God. The Lord’s will has never been for moments of darkness to prevail in any life. The Lord’s will has always been for every heart to know Him, seek Him, and trust Him. Sadly, the fallen nature of this world at times stands in our way of clearly seeing Him. Likewise, the tragedies of life are not merely explained away as though they are part of some cold and distant experiment of God. Thus while we wait we incline our ear to His word and remember what God had spoken, how that apart from God, we can do nothing (John 15:5). With God, we can wait and in waiting we find the comfort He provides, the strength He offers, and the hope He ensures. I hope you know, wait on the Lord, and your heart will find His strength.

THE LIGHTHOUSE was packed as we ended

this years gatherings. Thanks to Mike & Regina Elkins, Bryan & Mendy McAlister and

Tabitha Cude for the delicious food and helping with the night! Chances are we may

have some surprise Lighthouses so be

listening! Also, we will have an open house and more about the updates and

renovations. More on that will also be announced!

THE BIBLE STUDIES have ended as well for the school year. Thanks to Matthew

& Cissy Dotson and Derek & Rachel Newsom

for leading these times of deeper study. What a blessing to have these two couples

and the example they set for our young people. I cannot say thanks enough for what

they mean to our ministry!

SUNDAY WE ARE GOING TO THE ZOO! This will be a fun time for the Sparks &

Intermediates. Please eat before you come as the bus will leave at 12:30. Plans are to

be back by 5:00. Cost for under 2 is Free, 2 years old to 12 years old is $10, and Adults &

Teens is $15. We ask that with our Sparks (Elementary Age

and Younger) that an Adult or Teenage sibling go as well. THE CINCINNATI BLAST IS ALMOST HERE! This is for

the Senior High and 20/30s on May 29-31. Plans are to see a Reds game, go to Kings Island, and make a lot of memories

during that time. The deadline is this coming Sunday for the money and applications to be turned in. Plans will be finalized and set on Monday, so we cannot accept any after Sunday

night. Plan to go and plan for an unforgettable time! “IF IT GETS TOO HARD TO STAND, KNEEL.” Sometimes

the words do not flow as clearly as you would like in writing

these articles. In my 15 years in youth ministry there have been those times that I am at a loss to correctly put into words

what my heart feels. The past few days have placed me there again. I remain in awe of the Aydelott and Wright families and

the strength they have demonstrated that they gain from their Lord and from one another. Jonathan & Misty have exemplified

the love, dedication, and determination to be one as they face

each day deciding what is best for their sweet girl. Alyssa continues to fight and prayers are being answered as she

battles on. Never cease praying for Alyssa and her family. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds

the future. Lay your burdens at his feet and let Him guide us all

as we trust in Him to see us through! follow His path, -Craig
