I Spy: Blue Jello Rhythms ® Play I Spy With The Notes & Rests Chart - Open the score of your new piece. It’s really important to learn the rhythms correctly. Use a copy of the single page chart on the last page. 1. Circle the time signature of your piece. 2. Circle all the rhythms you can find in your piece. If you see some more than once, write little tally marks near the number. 3. See any rhythms that aren’t on the chart? Add them! 4. Say and sign all the sections your piece with the Blue Jello rhythms. Repeat until you can keep a steady beat. 5. Write the number of the notes, rests and the combinations you found in the box. Reading the Notes & Rests Chart 1. Look at the two columns of single notes and rests on the left. The largest note and rest are at the bottom with the very smallest at the top. Underneath each note or rest is the Blue Jello word that matches the rhythm. The matching drawing helps us read, understand, and remember the rhythms. 2. To the right of each single note are combinations of notes and rests that equal the single note. The quarter value has the most combinations. 3. There is a video at our website showing Michiko saying and signing both sets of cards. Look in the Games Section under Reading Rhythms.
