    (I) Research Proposal

From the distant ages of the past up to the time when the city of Bangkok was chosen

as the new capital of Thailand, with the exception of the water traffic along rivers and canals,

the only means of inland transportation in the country had been by animals such as ox,

buffaloes, horses, or elephants with howdahs and bullock-carts. These had been very popular

among the people of that time for their daily use in traveling as well as in goods

transportation from one place to another. At that time cars are not yet common nor were

transportation by rail was known in Thailand.

Concurrent with the beginning of the industrial era and King Chulalongkongs (Rama V)

reign, it also marked the commencement of a Royal project; the construction of the first state

railway line from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima in the Northeast. Ever since then, the

railway line has been expanded around the country.

With the railway system setup around Thailand, this was a good start but now compare to

other countries, we are falling behind in this service. With the current speed provided by the

train available, it is very time consuming. The only fast speed trains available are what we

have within Bangkok which is the BTS (Bangkok mass Transit System) and MRT (Mass

Rapid Transit). These services only provided in the limited range within Bangkok on the

commonly used roads. This only serves the people in Bangkok and also does not provide

transporting goods services for people needed. Even with this fast speed train available, it is

still not considered as high-speed train compare to what they have in:

And many other countries such as Spain, Russia, Italy, England, Germany, China, and USA

    have this service already.

With the oil price rising steadily, traveling and logistic on land can become more expensive, hence that this might be an alternative for these people.
