GROUND FLOOR OF BUILDING PEOPLE ATTRACTING PEOPLE’S ATTENTION
On Rambla Poblenou we can be observe a wide variety of facilities located on lower levels of buildings, where the sight of people is most concentrated.
Eye-catching, diversed and open ground floors attracts people to interact with them. People pause more often and walk slower, turning empty places into social places.
The existing relation between ground floors and people was mentioned in Jan Gehl’s essay “Close encounters with buildings”, where author describes the phenomenon of attractive displays affecting the interest of people passing by. The impact on this part of building is caused by human viewpoint and some research proved that people mostly pay attention to lower levels. The existence of open spaces, glass surfaces of displays and attractive facilities increases a positive perception of architecture and attracts people to the particular area.
Rambla Poblenou is often visited area of Barcelona, where people can gather together and benefit from local faciltiies f.e. restaurants, cafes, shops etc.

DIVERSITY IN LAND USE COMMUNITY CREATING A SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY STRENGTHEN SOCIAL RELATIONS
Rambla Poblenou is a street which has good proportions of building and street, where we can find many facilities, wide sidewalks, cycle lanes, green areas and good connections with the rest of the city of Barcelona.
Efficient use of land and space offers p e o p l e a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o c re a t e comfortable and healthy community. This h e l p s t o i m p r o v e c o m m u n i t y developement and public realm.
The importance of diversity in land use is mentioned by Andrew Tan in his work “Liveable cities” as one of the most important principles of achieving sustainable and liveable community. This kind of activity can reduce a car use among people and encourage them to more walk and cycle. Moreover, diveristy of accommodation, business and infrastructure is relevant for ecological and welcoming city. Andrea Colantonio in her “Urban Regeneration and Social Sustainability : Best Practice from European Cities” also talks about improving urban enviroment and encouraging local residents to use public spaces to create a developed and friendly living area.
Rambla Poblenou is a street in a place of old city centre which offers variety of landscape for people.

QUALITY OF PUBLIC SPACE GENERAL DEVELOPEMENT ATTRACTING PEOPLE INCREASING ECONOMIC DEVELOPEMENT
Public space in Poblenou consists of green areas, squares, streetscape (sidewalk, cycle lanes), type of lightning, facilities on ground floors. There could be more done to improve the quality of Poblenou.
A high quality urban environment leads to increase of developement of area and encourages the activity on street level.
According to Andrew Tan and his essay “Liveable cities”,to create a pleasant and safe public environment, there should be taken many steps like planting trees and potting plants, improving pedestrian lightning, providing street furniture, creating new pedestrian routes and thoroughfares. Taking into consideration statistics from City Council of Barcelona about Poblenou since 2015, we can say that it hasn’t changed so much and in some cases even got worse. This is a good opportunity to think how to improve Poblenou and make it change into more vivid, liveable and welcoming place. Poblenou hasa big potential and as yet there have been created many services like shops, restaurants and cafes which attract people, but as we can see, there should be done more to prevent the decline of consumption and economic level.
According to statistical data, the ammount of hotels increased 4,6% since 2010, as well as n u m b e r o f s c h o o l b u i l d i n g s ( 2 , 3 % ) . Unfortunately, some of the branches went down since 2015 or haven’t changed, for example offices, industry, sport and sanitary buildings.

INFRASTRUCTURE COMMUNITY IMPROVING ACCESS AND MOVEMENT WITHIN CITY CREATING SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY AND ITS RELATIONS
Poblenou is well-connected with the rest of the city by subway lines and bus transport, as well as by being linked with principal axis (Avinguda Diagonal, Carrer de Pere IV) by streets, sidewalks and cycle lanes.
G o o d t r a n s p o r t s e r v i c e s a n d communication linking people to jobs, schools, health etc. not only improves connectivity, but also is the key to sustainable community.
One of the most important keys to achieve a liveable community are the connections within the area and with the rest of the city. This aspect is described in Andrea’s Colantonio work named “Urban Regeneration and Social Sustainability : Best Practice from European Cities”. Appropriate connection serves well relations between people of community and is good for the sustainable transport. Permeability of streets is a positive aspect of Poblenou, which influences on a flow of people, goods and vehicles in this area.
Following the thought of Andrea Colantonio, a healthy community should be well connected with the rest.
