Transcript of I Love You This Much Hebrews 13:5-6
Hebrews 13:5–7Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,” so that we confidently say, “THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?” Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
Why we do what we doTherefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

LOVENegative commandmentMake sure that your character is free from the love of money
“Not a lover of silver”
You don’t have to possess Character-life, way of life, behavior, manner of life.
Not just external but internal
Why?For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
1 Timothy 6:10
Love and ServiceMoney is a toolNot evilWhat can you accomplish with it?
No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Luke 16:13
Luke 16:10–12 (NASB95) Jesus said, “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?”
Proverbs 22:7 (NASB95) The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.
Preventative measuresbeing content with what you have
…for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
Philippians 4:11
Philippians 4:12–13 (NASB95) 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:12–13 (NASB95)
12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Literal translation I will not, I will not cease to sustain and uphold you. I will not, I will not, I will not let you down.
Love of money interferes with trust
for He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,”
Literal translationFor He Himself has said, and the statement is on record, I will not, I will not cease to sustain and uphold you. I will not, I will not, I will not let you down. So that, being of good courage, we say, The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What shall man do to me?

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
David to Solomon
Be strong and courageous, and
act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for
the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all
the work for the service of the house

Hebrews 13:6
A familiar PsalmFrom my distress I called upon the LORD; The LORD answered me and set me in a large place. The LORD is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me? The LORD is for me among those who help me; Therefore I will look with satisfaction on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in princes.
Psalm 118:5–9
