The children like this book fair because it allows them to find new authors and some of them told me they are going to buy a book.

Kruka books is awesome for the ones who like to read, you should come because it doesn’t matter if you are in 1st grade or in secondary you can find interesting books for your age and hobbies.

Ten tips why we should read.

Read every day, even if you only have a few minutes. This models that daily reading is an important part of each day. Children also love a pleasant routine. They will look forward to this special time.

Create a cozy place to read together. It can be a special chair, or even a pile of pillows.

Let your child help you choose what book to read. This will help you keep the child’s interest, and it makes him feel important. Visiting a library regularly makes choosing books easy and fun.

Talk about the cover. Have your child guess what the book is about. Who are the characters? What is the title? Who is the author? Have you read books by this author before? Have you seen this illustrator before?

Change your voice to go with the characters and the action. You don’t have to be an actor, but you can at least change your inflection for a livelier storytelling experience. Make sure you don’t read too quickly, too. You don’t want to sound like you’re rushing to finish.

Show the pictures as you read. Not only do the pictures help a child understand and connect to the book, the illustrations often add humor and whimsy to fiction.

After you read the book, talk about the story. Go back and look at the pictures again and talk about what happened. Point out any hard words to see if your child can figure out what they mean by looking at the surrounding words and pictures.

Try to make connections to something in the story and your life or the child’s life.

Be sure to prompt your child to critique the book. Ask questions such as, What did you like? What did you dislike? What made you laugh? What did you learn?

Vary the genres that you read. Mix fiction and nonfiction. A child’s future favorite book might be in a genre he or she has not yet experienced!

PHILIP PULLMAN

I started telling stories as soon as I knew what stories were. I was fascinated by them — that something could happen and be connected

to another thing, and that someone could put the two things together and show how the first thing caused the second thing, which then caused a third thing. I loved it. I love it still. My early experience with stories came from the radio, which is a wonderful medium. I remember listening to gangster serials, and cowboy serials, and best of all — Superman! When I first saw a Superman comic, it changed my life. Soon afterward I discovered Batman, too, whom I loved even more. I was good at spelling, so obviously the comics weren’t harming me too much. For a long time, my favorite stories were ghost stories. I used to enjoy frightening myself and my friends with the tales I read. I also liked making up stories about the tree in the woods we used to call the Hanging Tree. I still enjoy ghost stories, even though I don’t think I believe in ghosts anymore.I was sure that I was going to write stories myself when I grew up. It’s important to put it like that — not “I am a writer,” but rather “I write stories.” The story is what matters, and you’re only the servant, and your job is to get it out on time and in good order.

Congratulations to all the children that took part in presenting to the parents this month an open class. This activity was designed to

show parents some techniques that are used in school that can be used whilst out with their families or around the home. We hope that you all enjoyed the opportunity of working with your child which led to some interesting topics discussed at home.

Thank you for your participation and motivation during these classes.

Gate Pose (Parighasana)

Gate pose is a lovely side stretch which resembles a beam (parigha) used to latch a gate. This is a terrific pose for kids because it

teaches balance while maintaining a solid foundation. It also focuses on elongating the side body, an often forgotten part of the torso, which helps to improve posture.

Kneel tall, extend the right leg out straight to the side, toes forward.

Keep your shoulders and hips squared to the front.

Place the right hand on the right leg.

Reach overhead with the left arm, keep reachingover toward the right, feeling a lovely stretch alongthe left side.

Gaze forward or look upward toward the innerelbow and hold for a few breaths.

Repeat on the other side.
