IINTROWelcome to Nexus Kids! We are so excited to see

you today. This week we are continuing our series calledI heart Worship! Over the next four weeks we are goingto be learning all about Worship.

In case you missed it last week we learned allabout who we worship. Worship is when we give all ourattention to God. This week we are going to talk aboutworship & Thanksgiving.

Why we celebrate Thanksgiving

Did you know the whole reason we have aThanksgiving holiday is because of Worship! The Bibletells us to worship God, and only God. The pilgrims lovedGod and knew this, but where they lived wanted them toworship other things.

The Pilgrims lived in England, a land where theywere not allowed to worship God like they wanted. SoGod gave them a new place to call home, where theycould praise & worship Him with their whole hearts. ThePilgrims were very thankful to God for blessing them.

The pilgrims got on a boat and left the only homethey knew, to discover a new land! They sailed toAmerica and started a new life. Each year the Pilgrimsset aside a special day to Thank God, for all the

wonderful blessings that He gave to them. We call thisday Thanksgiving!

This year, while you are eating turkey stop andthink about all of the things that God has done for you.Then thank Him.

Telling God thank you is, another way we honorHim. We can say thank you to God during worship, or atanytime through out the Day!

I am so glad we can worship when we want, andhow ever we want. The pilgrims helped give us thatfreedom many years ago, and this is why we rememberThanksgiving. We are so blessed that we can just sitand talk to God, thats worship! There are manydifferent ways to worship we can sing, dance, or justtalk to God. He loves us and loves spending time withus! Remember to say Thank you on Thanksgiving, andevery day!

Put on a Happy Snood

Have a gobbling good time with this holiday spin on an old game

In this version of the card game spoons, you grab a turkey snood instead of aspoon and hold it in front of your face.

Instructions1. The object is to collect four cards of one kind (four twos, say, or four

kings) and not to be the person left without a snood. To begin, place the

snoods (one fewer than the number of players) in the center of the tablewithin grabbing reach of all players. Each player is dealt four cards. Thedealer keeps the deck.

2. The dealer picks a card from the deck, then discards one card from hishand, sliding it facedown to the player to his left. That player takes it,picks one card from his hand, and passes it to his left.

3. Each player in turn does the same, as quickly as possible. Each personshould have four cards in his hand at all times. The player to the right ofthe dealer places discarded cards in a pile to his left to be used by thedealer when the original deck is used up.

4. Play continues until one player has four of a kind, at which time he takesa snood on a stick from the pile and holds it in front of his face. Theothers race to grab the remaining snoods. The player who ends upempty-handed is out and a new player may take their place.

Cross The Sea

Pay homage to the Pilgrims' 1620 voyage with your own (albeitdrier, shorter, and less treacherous!) crossing -- of the living room.

First, pick one person to represent the New World, and have herstand on a chair at one end of the room. Next, choose someone tobe the Mayflower; have him stand blindfolded at the other end of theroom. Everyone else plays "rocks," standing, sitting, or lying on thefloor in random spots between the two. The New World calls outdirections to guide the ship (who can't talk or peek) safely acrossthe rocky sea to its final harbor: the chair upon which the New Worldstands.

Do: Help the children to decorate a Thank you card withtheir Finger Prints, Making a Turkey.

Fingerprint Turkey Craft

Directions:

stamp the pad of your index finger into theorange or red paint

Use your finger to make an arch of fingerprintsas the turkey's tail

Optional: Make a second arch around the first oneusing your index finger or your pinkie again... youcan use the same color or another autumn colorfor the second arch (it's actually better to makethe outside arch first if you're planning to dotwo)

Use glue to attach the turkey body to the paper
