Dear Parishioners, On this Second Sunday of Advent, we hear, “Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God” (Is 40:1). While sin has alienated us from God, each other and the world in which we live, love call us back to original goodness. In the difficult process of conversion, it is the Lord, Himself, who provides for us and draws near to us. Embrace the Lord’s comfort this Advent season by taking those necessary steps away from sinful attitudes and actions. Plan on making a complete and thorough sacramental confession. Trust in the Lord who will enlighten your conscience, strengthen you in spirit and comfort you in reconciliation. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Advent mission conducted by Casting Nets Ministry last week. Thank you to those who provided hospitality at the parish guest house or at the talks. Tony Brandt and Chris Stewart gave us much to think and pray about. Let us pray that their time among us will now be a blessing as we prepare for Christmas. This Monday, December 8th is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is a holy day of obligation. Masses will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m., Noon, and 6:00 p.m. The Blessed Mother is faithful to us as she intercedes unceasingly on our behalf. Let us show our gratitude by our joyful celebration of holy Mass in her honor. In addition, the National Night of Prayer for Life will be held this Monday night (December 8th) beginning at 9:00 p.m. and concluding on Tuesday, December 9th at 1:00 a.m. The annual observance is celebrated in hundreds of parishes across the nation as a grass-roots endeavor to live the Gospel of Life. It was on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (then celebrated on Dec. 9th), that Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and the Unborn, first appeared to Saint Juan Diego in 1531. The National Night of Prayer for Life bridges these two feasts to honor Our Blessed Mother and to invoke her intercession in bringing about a profound love for all human life, especially the innocent unborn. An important feature of the Night of Prayer is the hour of unity at 12:00 midnight (EST-USA). At that hour all four American time zones are united in prayer. What a hopeful sign, to see thousands of Americans, from coast to coast, on their knees in supplication to Our Lord through His Holy Mother, to have mercy on our country and to enkindle a new love and respect for God’s greatest gift---Life! The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed at 9:00 p.m. with prayers, music, Sacred Scripture and reflection at the top of each hour. Benediction will close the night at 1:00 a.m. I invite you to the church at any point during these four hours of prayer.

God’s blessings to you – Father Kovanis

What does it mean to be a faithful steward? How is stewardship intimately linked with the Eucharist as a response of our faith in God for His many blessings? Fr. John Lanzrath shows us how to develop an attitude of gratitude to grow in grace, incorporate a

spirituality of stewardship in every aspect of daily life, and overcome the selfishness that keeps us from recognizing God's gifts.

Second Sunday of Advent

Article 422: 'But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.'1 This is 'the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God':'2 God has visited his people. He has fulfilled the promise he made to Abraham and his descendants. He acted far beyond all expectation - he has sent his own 'beloved Son’.3

You continue to be generous in sharing

Your gifts with us.

Strengthen us in faith.

Grant us the spirit of sacrifice so that,
