These words expressed by the Prophet Elijah in the Book of Kings, are probably the same words we said ourselves in a moment of frustration, pain or defeat. It doesn´t means that we really want to die, but we don´t want to continue living in that situation of pain and defeat. If we have moral and we are afraid of offending God, we ask him to easy our suffering and to take us with Him out of this world, but we trust in his good will. Those who does not have faith, they commit the big mistake of ending their own life putting in jeopardy the salvation of their souls. It is like to jump from the pan into the fire and going to the eternal damnation. The Lord listen the prayers of Elijah and gives him a wise solution for the fatigue, the sadness and depression… Rest and food. After eating and resting, Elijah has the strength to continue his way. We need to rest and to eat well. Do not use the excuse of having to many commitments and to much work. It is clear that we should not be irresponsible, but we need to rest and to feed in order to fulfill our duties and not die without having lived. But let us not look for the perishable food that finish into the toilet and we feel hungry later. Let us not look for the noisy rest that causes more fatigue and leaves emptiness in the soul. Jesus says: ¨Come to me those who are tired and overwhelmed by the burden and I will relieve them¨. He also says that He is the Living Bread that came down from Heaven and the one who eats him will never die, but he will live for ever. God does not solve our problems as if He were the Genie of the Magic Lamp. God provide us the necessary food that give us the strength to take care of the solution of our own problems, trusting that God is helping us. If you want a miracle… Work for it! Rest in God, feed your soul with his Word and your body with the Heavenly Bread and continue the way that leads you to Him. If you have done it, you may remember that the times you wanted to die, have been in the past and God never failed you. Keep going ahead and be strong in your faith!

BASTA YA SEÑOR, QUITAME LA VIDA

Estas palabras expresadas por el Profeta Elías en el libro de los Reyes, quizá sean las mismas palabras que hemos dicho nosotros mismos en un momento de frustración, dolor o derrota. Y no es que queramos morir realmente, sino que no queremos vivir en esa situación de derrota y dolor. Quienes tenemos principios

morales y tememos ofender a Dios, le pedimos que nos alivie del sufrimiento llevándonos ya de este mundo, pero confiamos en su decisión y en su buena voluntad. Quienes no tienen fe en Dios, cometen la tontería de acabar con su propia vida, lo que pone en duda su salvación y es como saltar del comal al fuego. Como dice el dicho: ¨Pobre del pobre que al Cielo no va. Lo friegan aquí y lo friegan allá¨. El Señor atiende a las súplicas de Elías y le proporciona una sabia solución al cansancio, la tristeza y la depresión… El descanso y el alimento. Después de haberse alimentado y después de haber descansado, Elías tiene la fortaleza para seguir adelante. Necesitamos el descanso y el alimento. No pretextemos que tenemos mucho trabajo o muchas obligaciones. Claro está, no hay que ser irresponsables, pero necesitamos descansar y alimentarnos para poder rendir y no morir sin haber vivido. Pero no busquemos el alimento que perece y termina en el escusado para luego tener más hambre. No busquemos el descanso ruidoso que nos produce más fatiga y nos deja vacío en el alma. Jesús dice: ¨Vengan a mí los que estén cansados y abrumados por la carga, que yo los aliviaré¨ y nos dice también que El es el Pan Vivo bajado del Cielo y quien lo come no morirá, sino que vivirá para siempre. Dios no nos soluciona las cosas como si fuera el Genio de la Lámpara Maravillosa. Dios nos da el alimento que nos da la fortaleza para que nosotros nos hagamos cargo de solucionar nuestros problemas, confiados en que Dios nos ayuda. Si quieres un milagro… ¡Trabaja para realizarlo! Descansa en Dios, aliméntate de su Palabra y del Pan del Cielo y sigue tu camino que te conduce a El. Si lo has hecho, recordarás que las veces que deseaste morir, han quedado en el pasado y que Dios nunca te a fallado. ¡Sigue adelante y fortalece tu fe!

52 ANNIVERSARY OF PRIEST.- Fr. Jairo and Fr. Sergio Román were ordained Priest on Au-gust 9, 1969 at the Metropolitan Ca-thedral of Mexico City. Both of them have being at the service of God and his People very faithfully during 52 years. Their health is not very good at this moment. Let us pray for their good health this Monday, August 9 at the 6 p.m. Mass in Saint Joseph.

AN EXTRA MASS IN BRIDGEPORT

52 ANIVERSARIO SACERDOTAL.- Los Padres Jairo y Sergio Ro-mán fueron ordenados el 9 de Agosto de 1969 en la Catedral Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México. Ambos han trabajado fielmente al servicio de Dios y su Pueblo durante 52 años. Su salud no es muy buena en este momento. Por favor, oremos por su buena salud este Lunes 9 de Agosto en la Misa de 6 p.m. en la Parroquia de San José.
