I am Salma Hayek,I was born on September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, MexicoI come from a wealthy family, I am the daughter of Mexican businessman of Lebanese origin Sami Hayek and Mexican opera singer Diana Jimenez.I am American Mexican.I have a younger brother named Sami. I am married to Franois-Henri PinaultI have a daughter she is Valentina.My name Salma, is an Arabic word which means "peace" or "calm". I'm Actress, director and producer.During my childhood I studied in my hometown when I was 12 years I moved to Louisiana to study in a boarding school. While i was living there I was diagnosed with dyslexia. And for my bad behavior I was expelled and had to return to my country.I have always had a strong and difficult character.When I was 17 I moved to Texas for a short time, shortly after return to Mexico and my parents made me study International Relations at the Iberoamerican University, but I left my studies by action. At first did not allow me to follow my dreams, but then they let me study acting.My first artwork was in 1988 in the play for children called Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, where saw me a television producer who offered me a role in my first telenovela Nuevo Amanecer in Televisa. Mi second starring role was in the telenovela Teresa.In the 80s I was well known as an actress in Mexico.At age 21, decided to become a star.Despite my success, I decided to leave everything and start over Mexico in the United States.I studied acting in Los Angeles, California. My beginnings were difficult abroad since not mastered very well English. Four months after failures got small roles in minor films and cable TV. My first big role have been in 1995 in the film Desperado with Antonio Banderas.After this movie came many job offers and so I had started growing in the world of hollywood. Until now I have been receiving very important roles as an actress.I'm pretty picky about my style, but easily seen in my everyday life.Spite of my fame always identify myself with my home country.I like to help others, I identify my solidarity and humility.My family life is very good, since I spend most of my time with my daughter and my husband.I have a production company with that I filmed Frida, this production I was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy.
