Beauty and the Beast Beauty and the Beast is a ballet. It is a dance performance with lots of characters on stage, including goodies and baddies.

In some parts of the ballet, it can be quite noisy and there are lots of different coloured lights with sometimes flash. There are a few bangs... but not too loud and the music can be a little scary but it warns me to be ready in case there is something I don’t want to watch or see.

The audience (that is us, watching the show) are allowed to join in by clapping, shouting and booing. The story will be told by people on the stage who are called dancers. They tell the story of Beauty and the Beast through movement and mime.

When the ballet starts, I will hear music played by a live Orchestra. If it is too loud, I can cover my ears, or put on my ear defenders and if the lights are a little too bright, I can cover my eyes or wear my tinted glasses.

If I want to leave the auditorium at any point, the doors will be open and there are quieter rooms where I can go to relax and play. There might be other people in those rooms.

When we are all sitting in our seats and are ready for the show to start, the Woods-man who is a character from the ballet, will come on to the stage to talk to us. This is especially for us and he will explain what is going to happen in the show.

The show begins...
