Clinical features

• Tiredness

• Weight gain

• Hoarseness of voice

• Cold intolerance

• Bradycardia / hypertension / angina / heart failure

• Pleural / pericardial effusion

• Delayed relaxation of DTR (AJ)

• Deafness / depression

• Dry coarse skin / alopecia

• Menorrhagia / impotence / infertility

• Constipation / ascites

Investigations

• T3 , T4 – decreased

• TSH – increased

• Increased cholesterol & TGL

• ECG – low voltage / ST & T changes

Management

• Thyroxin – 50-150 mcg / day

• Monitor TSH
