About This Release

This Readme file describes the defects fixed in Hyperion® Planning – System 9 Release 9.3.3.0.00 as well as the necessary instructions for applying this release.

Release Type

This maintenance release is cumulative and incorporates all service fixes to the 9.3.1 Release. This maintenance release replaces files in your existing installation and does not require a full installation.

Supported Upgrade Paths

The supported upgrade path for Release 9.3.3 is only from Release 9.3.1 and subsequent service fixes and packs (including the French Release 9.3.1.2). Before you can apply this maintenance release, you must first install Release 9.3.1.x.

Page 3: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

3

Supported Platforms

Information about system requirements for Release 9.3.3 products is available in the Hyperion Installation Start Here. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/epm.html

Supported Languages

Planning Release 9.3.3 is available in English. Its User Interface is also available in French.

Release Compatibility

For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade all products in your environment to Release 9.3.3.

However, note these exceptions: If you are using Performance Management Architect 9.3.1.x, you must upgrade Performance Management Architect to Release 11.1.1.3. In addition, if you are upgrading to Release 9.3.3 in order to integrate with EPM System Financial Close Management Release 11.1.2 and/or EPM System Disclosure Management Release 11.1.2, some additional releases are compatible. For more information, see the Hyperion Installation Start Here chapter, "Using Release 9.3.3 Product With Components From Later Releases" and "Release Compatibility". See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/performance-management/documentation/index.html

Configuration Updates

Redeploying Planning • To redeploy a Planning application on Oracle 10g application server, complete these steps:

1. In Oracle Enterprise Manager, stop HyperionPlanning and HTTP server.

2. Undeploy the Planning application.

3. Follow the instructions in “Manual Configuration of the Web Environment” in the Hyperion Planning – System 9 Installation Guide for Release 9.3.1 to re-create the instance and deploy Planning.

You can use the dcmctl utility Oracle provides ($Oracle_home/dcm/bin/dcmctl) to perform some of these commands outside of Oracle Enterprise Manager. For more information, see the Oracle documentation.

• On HP-UX systems, when using the Hyperion® Home Migration Utility to copy Hyperion Home components to a new location, the Migration utility sometimes does not remove components from the old location. (1-212067873)

Other Configuration Issues • If you have both Planning and Hyperion® Business Rules installed, you must use Oracle’s

Hyperion® Configuration Utility™ to configure Oracle’s Essbase® Administration Services before you configure Planning. If you do not, the HBRServer.properties file is not downloaded to the Planning classpath directory. (9838020)

• When reconfiguring Oracle’s Enterprise Performance Management Architect on WebSphere, make sure that the ports entered during the "Deploy to Application Server" task are not being used by other programs. You can enter a different port if necessary. (8-506610416)

To resolve a port conflict error while redeploying:

Page 4: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

4

1. Exit the Hyperion Configuration Utility.

2. Undeploy Performance Management Architect by executing the batch files UndeployEPMAWebTier.bat and UndeployEPMADataSync.bat located in %HYPERION_HOME%\deployments\WebSphere6\bin

3. Using the Hyperion Configuration Utility, select the "Deploy to Application Server" task under Performance Management Architect, and deploy again.

• When you configure using VNC, terminal services, or remote desktop, an error message displays after you click Next in the Hyperion Configuration Utility. To work around this, after entering information in the dialog box, wait several seconds before clicking Next. (8-515492551)

• When you configure multiple products during the same Hyperion Configuration Utility session, database information from the previous product is shown when you configure a new product and view configuration details. (8-629254051)

• On an AIX machine, if you have difficulty with migrating an application from an earlier release of Planning, check that the PLANNING_HOME system environment variable exists. (8-531029216)

• After creating a Data Source Name, you must restart the Planning server. (526722751)

• On Windows 2003, when you uninstall Planning and reinstall it, you cannot continue the installation process after selecting components. To work around this in Windows 2003, after uninstalling Planning, rename the vpd file in the user profile directory (for example: <drive_letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user>\WINDOWS\<vpd> where vpd is the vpd.properties file). Then reinstall Planning. (1-266654021)

• If you are deploying to Apache Tomcat on a supported 64-bit platform, the machine hosting Tomcat must have a 32-bit JDK installation. (No bug number)

• In addition to native Hyperion single sign-on, Hyperion products can integrate with Netegrity SiteMinder, a Web access management solutions provider. Planning supports single sign-on with SiteMinder. To enable Planning to function correctly with SiteMinder, ensure that the following conditions are met:

• The product URL, such as http://<server>:8300/HyperionPlanning/, is protected in the SiteMinder Policy Server.

• Hyperion® Shared Services™ uses UserMgmtConsole.jsp, Dimensions.jsp, Tasklist.jsp, and FormManagement.jsp to communicate with Planning, and all users must have unprotected access to the URL.

For details on unprotecting specific URLs, refer to the SiteMinder Policy Server Administration Guide. (No bug number)

• To avoid performance issues, during installation turn off any screensavers that are running on your Planning servers. (No bug number)

• 7116707 — Users are removed if you synchronize an externally-authenticated Planning application with Shared Services while the external provider is not running.

• 7114411 — When saving business rules properties, passwords passed between Essbase Administration Services Console and Essbase Administration Services Server are not encrypted.

• 7114404 — For a Smart List with a large number of entries, for example over 400 entries, performing tasks on the Smart List like view, edit, add, and save takes more time to complete, and often the Web page becomes unresponsive.

Note: The resolution shortens the time to complete tasks on Smart Lists. While working on a Smart List task, if a script-warning message displays in the Web browser, select No to continue.

• 7113810 — From Workspace, when you try to log on to an Oracle application that is set to application maintenance mode, an inappropriate error message displays: “An error occurred while processing this page. Check the log for details. Please close the current tab and open application again.” The message should say instead that the application is in maintenance mode.

• 7112873 — When Planning is installed on HP-UX 11.23, Solaris 10, and AIX 5.3 computers, you cannot create a Planning application from an application that contains dimension or member names created in Russian.

• 7110951 — The deployment of a Performance Management Architect Planning application can be very slow if the application contains a large number of flat hierarchy members in any dimension, for example, numerous members in the Employee dimension.

• 7110934 — Deploying a Planning application multiple times without restarting the application server may result in an Out of Memory error message.

• 7005740 — Grid spreading is not proportional for entities if entities contain negative values.

• 6968007 — You cannot maximize a composite data form.

• 6753394 — When you launch a business rule from a Planning data form and the business rule contains a substitution variable value that is populated at run time and assigned to a Planning dimension, the name of the substitution variable rather than its value is populated in the Runtime Prompt dialog box.

• 6576166 — Use Members on Form shows the last used value instead of the value pertaining to the member on the data form.

• 6539679 — For a business rule, when there are multiple runtime prompts from a dimension, launching these rules only fills one runtime prompt member and not all assigned runtime prompts.

• 6937082, 7254686 — You get an error when you select a descriptive task in a task list.

Defects Fixed in Release 9.3.1.1.1

• 6610669 (8-665793145) — During configuration, passwords saved to configuration files are not encrypted.

• 6610641 — In Hyperion® Capital Expense Planning, depreciation calculations are not calculated correctly for fiscal calendars when the first fiscal month is a month other than January.

• 6610615 — Sometimes launching a business rule in offline Planning returns an error message about Java heap space instead of a result.

To increase the heap size and avoid this situation: add the property JavaMaxHeapSize to the registry at: KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HyperionSolutions/HyperionPlanning/Offline

The default value of the property is 256 MB. Increase the value to provide enough heap space to accommodate anticipated calculation needs.

• 6610651 (8-663830051) — Sometimes security filters cannot be refreshed on non-English U.S. regional settings servers.

• 6610629 (8-658938381) — Users cannot generate the Access Control Report while logged in from the Shared Services Console.

• 6636266 (8-644790514) — You cannot run business rule sequences in a clustered or load-balanced environment.

• 6636292 (8-644790471) — If a user is in both an external authentication group and a native group, and a business rule has access set for the external group only, the user cannot view that business rule. Also, the user is listed twice in the Rules access list in Analytic Administration Services.

• 6637393 (8-645464423) — When connecting to Planning using Oracle’s Hyperion® Application Link or Oracle’s Hyperion® Data Integration Management Adapter for Planning, success is intermittent.

• 6637379 (8-651003902) — Planning users are unable to take data forms offline when the data forms are stored on a UNIX system.

• 6636367 (8-665086601) — When the Business Rules connection to the relational database is lost, Business Rules does not reconnect to it. To solve this problem, an optional property, HBR_CONNECTION_VALIDATE_TIME, was added to HBRServer.properties. This property specifies a time interval for checking the connection between Business Rules and the relational

Known Issues in Maintenance Release 9.3.3.0.00

The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

• 9899429 — If you deactivate an active instance with the Hyperion Configuration utility and there are no other active instances, and then you launch Planning using a URL, applications associated with the deactivated instance are listed. To see all Planning applications when accessing Planning using a URL, select instance None as an active instance in the Hyperion Configuration utility.

• 9355397 — Sometimes, after upgrading Planning, a dimension is missing on the POV, even though the dimension is still assigned to the POV when you edit the data form.

• 9040127 — When designing a data form, if you select both member names and their attributes for the Page, only the member names display in the data form.

• 8531104 — In Workspace, if the “Suppress missing data” option is selected for a data form, and the data form has no data, the Planning icons are inactive.

• 9250244 — When you use the ProvisionUsers utility, if the MSAD provider becomes unresponsive, the utility replaces MSAD SIDs with LDAP SIDs, even if only MSAD users are provisioned for Planning.

• 8729163 — If you move members from one hierarchy to another on the Dimensions page, and those members are assigned Write access based on the idescendants relationship, after you refresh the database and refresh security filters, the moved members no longer have Write access. To work around this, move only level 0 members from one hierarchy to another.

• 8707428 — You cannot use the FormDefUtil utility to export a data form that has a colon in its name. To work around this, do not use colons in data form names.

• 8527400 — Calculations are incorrect when the moving average function (@movavg) is applied across incrementing years.

• 8526042 — On Oracle Application Server, when you export a business rule that contains a DATACOPY command followed by a "->" character, an extra carriage return is inserted after the "->" character in the XML file. If you then import the business rule, the extra carriage returns become spaces. Although the import works without error, the business rule does not validate or launch because the additional spaces cause syntax errors. To work around this, remove the extra spaces from the business rule.

• 8205006 — Sometimes, the Validate Member Formula button does not work on a dimension that has been loaded into a Classic Planning application.

• 7600502 — Sometimes, after you create and enter text into a new member whose data type is Text, in Oracle’s Hyperion® Financial Reporting – System 9, the Essbase numerical value instead of the text is returned. To work around this, restart the Financial Reporting Server service.

• 7555421 — Sometimes Copy Data fails if the “Copy Account Annotations” option is selected.

Page 15: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

15

• 7360357 — When you try to generate an Access Control Report on a dimension having a large number of members (for example, 30,000), you may get an error.

• 7188990 — If a data form has Dynamic Time Series (DTS) members displayed in the columns or rows, when the data form is opened in Smart View, an invalid form message is displayed. If the DTS members are on the Page, the data form opens without an error.

• 7138724 — Runtime prompts sometimes display even though the “Hide Prompt” option is selected for the business rule in form design.

• 9794656 — The CopyApp utility cannot copy member formulas longer than 4,000 characters. To work around this, use the PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) to write the member formula into the target database.

• 9703159 — Aliases for attributes are not deployed to Planning in Performance Management Architect applications.

• 8831346 — In Classic Planning applications, if you select and save the “Enable Custom Attribute Display” option for the first of two dimensions on a row (and do not select the setting for the second dimension), then if you select the “Enable Custom Attribute Display” option for the second dimension, the “Enable Custom Attribute Display” option for the first dimension is cleared.

• 8650552 — In Classic Planning applications, the UDA tab (for user-defined attributes) does not display all buttons because you cannot scroll.

• 8637244 — Variance member formulas (@VAR) do not validate on Scenario members.

• 8568027 — User-defined attributes are not displayed when data forms are opened in Smart View.

• 8559671, 7281917 — In a data form, you cannot spread data for a member whose Skip property is set for a property other than None (for example, “Missing”, “Zeros”).

• 8516734 — The Clear Values button for alias tables works only after you restart the Planning server.

• 8373146 — Copy Data does not copy cell text for Dynamic Calc members.

• 8330433 — The ImportSecurity utility fails if a user is included in the Secfile.txt file and exists in MSAD, but has not been provisioned.

• 8286645 — You should not use substitution variables as the default for business rule runtime prompts. Business Rules evaluates substitution variables only if the runtime prompt is of type Member or Members. It does not evaluate substitution variables for runtime prompts of type String.

• 7554443, 7230774 — You can view shared members in a Smart View data form, but they do not display in Member Selection when you take the form offline.

• 7438028 — Planning Service Fix 9.3.1.1.7 changed the syntax for the Essbase Administrator Services JExportTo function when you enter Business Rules source code. Before, you could use quotation marks for the first parameter (for example, JExportTo(“file”, ...). After applying Planning Service Fix 9.3.1.1.7, the function works only if no quotations are used for the first parameter (for example, JExportTo(file, ...). To work around this, modify business rules that use the JExportTo function to remove quotation marks for the first parameter.

• 7279720 — On screens with low resolution (for example, 800 by 600), the Close button for the Search box isn’t visible until the Search box is dragged to the left.

• 7238669 — The last row header is not visible even though its data is visible.

• 7225626 — If you add a driver member using Administration, then Data Load Administration, you cannot subsequently delete that member. To work around this, delete the driver member from the list of selected members in the Data Load Administration window.

• 6960784 — You must restart the Planning application server service if the Oracle database containing Planning metadata is restarted.

Page 16: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

16

• 6755331 — The CopyApp utility fails if you use the /Q or /M switches in the command line, and the .eqd and .lro files do not exist. This may occur for example, if you use switches in conjunction with renamed .txt files.

• 6591274, 8-660119643 — On Oracle 9i repositories, Planning does not prevent your saving duplicate alias names that use different capitalization. Essbase recognizes the error when the database is refreshed.

• 8655540 — If a function (for example, ILv10Descendants(No Accounts) is used to select page members in a Planning data form and only shared members are selected due to security, an error occurs if you take the data form offline in Smart View.

• 8557236 —UserIDs are not case-sensitive when users log on to Planning, but UserIDs are case-sensitive when users log on to upgrade or migrate applications.

• 8282316 — In Classic Planning applications, when creating Scenario or Version members, you get an error if you click the UDA or Member Formula tab before you save the new member and its properties.

• 7514045 — After running the CopyApp utility, you cannot add Scenario or Version members.

• 7446781 — When a data form name exceeds 80 Cyrillic characters and contains multiple members in page dimensions whose names also exceed 80 Cyrillic characters, the page may cause an error or display a blank screen after you click Go. This issue occurs only when connecting to Planning directly, rather than through Hyperion® Workspace. To avoid this issue, use shorter data form and member names when using the Cyrillic alphabet.

• 7420399 — On a large data form with many rows, when you press Ctrl+F to search for a member, the data form does not move and is not aligned with the found row. This makes it difficult to scroll or tab to the found row to enter data.

• 6964065 — You cannot modify alias names to match those of their members. You can however, modify member names to match alias names.

• 8440091 — If your Windows display is set to 120 DPI, the Planning menus are truncated.

• 7451495 — Shared member hierarchies are not displayed correctly in data forms when the Suppress Missing Blocks property is set.

• 9768945 — You cannot successfully deploy a Performance Management Architect application to a Classic Planning application if you create a new attribute dimension, but do not make changes to its corresponding base dimension before you deploy the application.

• Note: If attribute dimensions and members exist in a Performance Management Architect application but not in a Classic Planning application, you must modify both the attribute dimension and the corresponding base dimension before trying to deploy the application to Classic Planning. However, this is required only once so that all attribute dimensions and members are pushed to the Classic Planning application. All subsequent changes made to attribute dimensions and members in the Performance Management Architect application do not require modifying the corresponding base dimension to be transferred to Classic Planning during deployment.

• 9474819 — After you upgrade a Classic application from Service Fix 9.3.1.1.3 to 9.3.1.1.13, members containing special characters such as hyphens or parentheses do not display correctly, and you cannot save data forms having these members selected.

• (no bug number) — When opening HTML documentation or HTML Help in Firefox 3.5.9 or later, or in Internet Explorer 8.0 or later, you may experience some display or navigational anomalies, including images not loading. This does not affect the integrity of the application content.

• 9869390 — On Windows 2000 systems, after you upgrade to this release, Planning utilities do not work. To work around this, copy the dbghelp.dll file in the %ARBORPATH%\bin directory to the %SystemRoot%\system32 and %SystemRoot%\system32\dllcache directories.

Page 17: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

17

• 9868955 — If you are using Performance Management Architect, before you can create Capital Expense Planning and Hyperion® Workforce Planning applications with Planning 9.3.3, you must download new flat files from the Oracle® E-Delivery site.

Workforce Planning

Workforce Planning Considerations • If you are upgrading from an earlier release and the names of your predefined, required

dimensions (for example, Accounts and Entities) do not match the new application dimension names (for example, Account and Entity), you cannot initialize your Oracle’s Hyperion® Workforce Planning application. (8-558153011)

To avoid this problem:

1. Upgrade your application to this release.

2. Using Classic application administration, rename the dimensions in Planning.

3. Optional: If you want to use Performance Management Architect, migrate your Planning Application View in Oracle’s Enterprise Performance Management Architect.

If you do so, you can no longer use Classic application administration with this application.

Known Workforce Planning Issues • NOTE: See “Documentation Updates” for information on using the new flat file for Workforce

Planning.

• You cannot access the predefined business rules in Workforce Planning until you set up access permissions for them in Administration Services. (1-180925717)

To set up access to the Workforce Planning business rules:

1. Make sure the Administration Services server is started.

2. Log on to Essbase Administration Services console with the user name and password that you provisioned in Shared Services.

3. Expand Business Rules > Repository View > Rules to view the predefined Workforce Planning business rules.

4. Under Business Rules, expand Administration > Locations. Right-click All Locations and click Open.

5. Click Add Access Privileges, select the business rules for which you want to assign access, and click OK.

6. Select the users and groups to which you want to assign access, and click Save. The selected users and groups now have access to the selected business rules.

If you did not rename the Workforce plan type, you can access these business rules with right-click menus in the Workforce Planning predefined data forms. If you renamed the Workforce plan type when creating the application, you must do the following to make the predefined business rules accessible by right-click menus in the Workforce Planning data forms.

To make the Workforce Planning business rules available by right-clicking:

1. Select Administration > Manage Menus.

Page 18: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

18

2. Select WFPMenu and click Edit.

3. For each Menu Item whose Type is Business Rule, do the following:

a. Select the Menu Item and click Edit.

b. Under Properties, from Plan Type, select the renamed Workforce plan type.

c. From Business Rules, select the associated business rules.

d. Click Save.

e. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each Menu Item.

4. Perform steps 2 and 3 for the WFPMenuNewHires menu.

You can now launch business rules from Workforce Planning data forms by right-clicking in data forms.

Capital Expense Planning

Capital Expense Planning Considerations • If you are upgrading from an earlier release and the names of your predefined, required

dimensions (for example, Accounts and Entities) do not match the new application dimension names (for example, Account and Entity), you cannot initialize your Oracle’s Hyperion® Capital Expense Planning application. (8-558153011)

To avoid this problem:

1. Upgrade your application to this release.

2. Using Classic application administration, rename the dimensions in Planning.

3. Optional: If you want to use Performance Management Architect, migrate your Planning Application View in Performance Management Architect.

If you do so, you can no longer use Classic application administration with this application.

Known Capital Expense Planning Issues • NOTE: See “Documentation Updates” for information on using the new flat file for Capital Expense

Planning.

• If you are using Oracle’s Enterprise Performance Management Architect application administration, and you change the Capex plan type name before you deploy the Application View, the plan type name remains unchanged: Capex. (8-541494273)

• Asset class member names are repeated for each line item in the new asset request form. To avoid this, clear the Suppress Missing Blocks option for the data form. Select Administration > Manage Data Form, select the data form to edit, and clear Suppress Missing Blocks in the Row/Column Layout tab. This may affect performance. For detailed instructions, see “Setting the Row and Column Layout” in the Hyperion Planning – System 9 Administrator’s Guide. (8-533678131)

• On data forms 03. Manage Existing Specified and 06. Manage Existing Intangibles Specified, the basic cost is calculated for each asset item, but the overall Basic Cost for Tangible Assets is not calculated and the row is not displayed until you launch the Calculate Asset business rule. (8-530312671)

• You cannot access the predefined business rules in Capital Expense Planning until you set up access permissions for them in Administration Services. (1-180925717)

To set up access to the Capital Expense Planning business rules:

Applying This Maintenance Release

The section includes important information about applying this maintenance release of Planning.

These instructions assume you have already installed Planning Release 9.3.1.x. To apply this maintenance release, use the following instructions to redeploy the Planning .ear file.

Deploying Planning 9.3.3.0.00

1. Log off Planning and stop the Web application server.

2. Back up the PlanningSystemDB.properties and HBRServer.properties files for all Web application servers.

The location of the PlanningSystemDB.properties file varies for different Web application servers. For example, for WebLogic 9 on Windows, the default location is:

HYPERION_HOME/deployments/WebLogic9/servers/HyperionPlanning/webapps/ HyperionPlanning/WEB-INF/classes

3. Rename the .ear file that, in most cases, was silently deployed to the Web application server directory.

Give the .ear file a different extension (for example, HyperionPlanning.ear.old).

An example of where the .ear file resides if the Web application server is on a Windows system:

HYPERION_HOME/Planning/AppServer/InstallableApps/Common/HyperionPlanning.ear

4. Rename the planninginstall.jar file that is installed in:

HYPERION_HOME/Planning/lib

Give the .jar file a different extension (for example, planninginstall.jar.old).

5. Copy the new planninginstall.jar file to HYPERION_HOME/Planning/lib.

Page 20: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

20

6. Deploy the new release of Planning as follows:

Copy the new .ear file to the deployment directory or directories.

An example of where to copy the new .ear file if the Web application server is on a Windows system:

HYPERION_HOME/Planning/AppServer/InstallableApps/Common/HyperionPlanning.ear

7. Configure your Web application server by following the instructions in the Hyperion Planning – System 9 Installation Guide for Release 9.3.1. Specifically, you must use Oracle’s Hyperion® Configuration Utility™ to perform the Deploy to Application Server and the Configure Database tasks.

Caution: To ensure that no database tables are lost during Configure Database, select the Reuse Existing Tables option.

8. Replace the existing HspJS.jar and hbrhppluginjar.jar files found in both /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/lib and in /HYPERION_HOME/Common/ADM/Planning/9.3.1/lib with the new HspJS.jar and hbrhppluginjar.jar files.

9. For your Web application server, restore the properties files PlanningSystemDB.properties and HBRServer.properties backed up in Step 2.

This step applies to all Web application servers.

10. Delete the browser cache and restart the browser for any client on which you need to open a Planning application.

If you are using the WebSphere application server: Remove the HyperionPlanning directory under the WebSphere temp folder before you restart the services. In most cases, the directory is under Hyperion_Home\deployments\WebSphere6\profile\temp\hyslNode.

11. Reinstall Offline Planning:

a) Synchronize data from Offline Planning to Planning.

b) Remove connections to Offline Planning.

c) Uninstall Offline Planning.

d) Delete the Offline Planning folders.

e) Install Offline Planning using the new Offline.exe that is copied to the Planning deployment folder.

The exact location of the Offline.exe file varies for different Web application servers. For example, for Tomcat 5 on Windows, the default location is:

/HYPERION_HOME\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\smartview directory.

f) Create new connections for Offline Planning.

Replacing Planning DLL Files

You need to replace the following files:

Page 21: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

21

• For win32 or win64 systems: HspEssbaseMainAPI.dll, HspEssbaseEnv.dll, HspEssbaseGridAPI.dll, and HspEssbaseOutlineAPI.dll

• For AIX, Solaris, HP_UX systems: libHspEssbaseMainAPI.so, libHspEssbaseEnv.so, libHspEssbaseGridAPI.so, and libHspEssbaseOutlineAPI.so

To replace these files:

1. For win32 or win64 systems: On the server where Planning is installed, replace the existing HspEssbaseMainAPI.dll, HspEssbaseEnv.dll, HspEssbaseGridAPI.dll, and HspEssbaseOutlineAPI.dll files found in the %system32% folder and in /HYPERION_HOME/Common/ADM/Planning/9.3.1/bin.

2. For AIX, Solaris, or HP_UX systems: Replace the existing libHspEssbaseMainAPI.so, libHspEssbaseEnv.so, libHspEssbaseGridAPI.so, and libHspEssbaseOutlineAPI.so files found in the /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/lib folder and in /HYPERION_HOME/Common/ADM/Planning/9.3.1/bin. If you have these files in a different directory, change the path to reflect the difference.

Replacing the CSS-9_3_1.jar File

If Planning is installed on a different computer than Essbase or Shared Services, then you must update the css-9_3_1.jar file.

To update the css-9_3_1.jar file:

1. Locate the existing css-9_3_1.jar file installed in: HYPERION_HOME/common/CSS/9.3.1/lib.

2. Rename the old .jar file with a different extension (for example, css-9_3_1.jar.old).

3. Copy the new css-9_3_1.jar file to /HYPERION_HOME/common/CSS/9.3.1/lib.

Updating Essbase Runtime Client

If Planning and Oracle's Hyperion® Financial Reporting – System 9 are not on the same computer, you must overwrite the Essbase RTC 9.3.1 bin and locale folders on the Planning computer with the new Essbase RTC 9.3.3 bin and locale folders, provided in the Planning 9.3.3 patch file.

Note: The 9.3.1 folder name does not change for Release 9.3.3.

1. Locate and copy the new Essbase RTC 9.3.3 bin and locale folders, provided in the Planning 9.3.3 patch file, in the following path:

/EssbaseRTC/<platform>/bin

/EssbaseRTC/<platform>/locale

2. Paste the Essbase RTC 9.3.3 bin and locale folders in this path, replacing the Hyperion® Essbase® - System 9 RTC 9.3.1 bin and locale folders:

/HYPERION_HOME/common/EssbaseRTC/9.3.1/bin

/HYPERION_HOME/common/EssbaseRTC/9.3.1/locale

Page 22: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

On UNIX systems, ensure that the copied folders and files have the correct user and group right permissions.

Modifying JVM Settings

To ensure that your Web application servers work correctly with the JVM (Java Virtual Machine), you must modify the JVM settings.

Note: You can also pass the -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=0 property to the JVM by updating the JVM settings using the application server’s Administration Console.

For WebLogic, WebSphere, and Tomcat Web application servers:

To update the Planning file that sets custom parameters:

1. Using a text editor, open setCustomParamsHyperionPlanning.bat (Windows) or setCustomParamsHyperionPlanning.sh (UNIX).

This file is located in HYPERION_HOME/deployments/APP_SERVER/bin, where APP_SERVER indicates the name of your application server.

This file is located in C:/HYPERION_HOME/deployments/WebLogic9/bin

2. Specify the Java system property by modifying the JAVA_OPTS directive to include: -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=0

After you make the changes, your JAVA_OPTS directive may be as follows:

SET JAVA_OPTS=-Dhyperion.home=C:\Hyperion -server -Xms128m -Xmx1024m -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=0 %JAVA_OPTS%

3. Save and close the file.

For Oracle Application Server:

To add a Java option:

1. On the Oracle Enterprise Manager Application Server Main page, in System Components, select HyperionPlanning.

2. On the OC4J: Planning page, select Administration.

3. On the Administration page, select Server Properties.

4. Add a row for the following Java Option:

-Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=0

5. Apply the changes and restart the Planning OPMN instance.

Testing Planning Logon

To test that you have correctly applied this maintenance release, try to log on to Planning.

Enabling Business Rules Command Line Launcher on UNIX Platforms

To enable Business Rules Command Line Launcher to work on UNIX platforms:

1. Unzip HBREasClient.zip to a temp location on a Windows computer.

2. FTP the entire contents to a UNIX computer.

3. Navigate to HBREasClient/console/bin and edit CmdLnLauncher.sh to replace ${EAS_HOME} with the absolute path to HBR_HOME (this is generally located in the folder where Administration Services is installed). In a typical installation, this path might be HYPERION_HOME/AnalyticAdministrationServices.

4. The script CmdLnLauncher.sh will execute the Command Line Launcher. The syntax for this script is similar to the Windows version of the Command Line Launcher.

Updates for Bug 8546653

To apply the DeleteSharedDescendants utility on UNIX platforms:

1. Find the existing DeleteSharedDescendants.sh file, which is usually located in /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin and rename it to DeleteSharedDescendants.sh.old.

2. FTP the new DeleteSharedDescendants.sh to the UNIX computer.

3. Navigate to /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin and edit DeleteSharedDescendants.sh to replace ${PLN_JAR_PATH} with the absolute path to setHPenv.sh (this is generally located in the folder /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin).

Updates for Bug 8999665

A new utility called MenuDefUtil is available for exporting and importing menus between Planning applications.

For Windows systems:

1. Copy the MenuDefUtil.cmd file from the Utils directory to this location:

/HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin

2. Navigate to the /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin directory and edit MenuDefUtil.cmd, replacing %PLN_JAR_PATH% with the absolute path to setHPenv.bat (which is usually located in the directory /HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin).

For UNIX systems:

1. Copy the MenuDefUtil.sh file from the Utils directory to this location:

/HYPERION_HOME/Planning/bin

Page 24: Hyperion Planning – System 9 Readme€¦ · For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade

Migrate Identities

The Migrate Identities feature updates old identity attributes in the Business Rules repository with new attributes from Shared Services. This feature enables movement of user ids across organizational units (OUs) and duplicate common names in different OUs. See the Hyperion System 9 Shared Services User Management Guide for configuration information and a list of identity attributes for external providers.

Note: Before you run Migrate Identities, run the UpdateNativeDir utility in Shared Services. See the Hyperion System 9 Shared Services 9.3.1 Installation Guide.

You can access the migrate identities function using the Migrate Identities button in the Business Rules node within Administration Services.

Important: For Sun ONE LDAP, if the ID Attribute is set to nsunique in the css.xml file, users and groups are deleted from the Planning repository if they move across OUs.

To migrate unique Hyperion® Shared Services™ identities to Business Rules:

1. Select Start, then Programs, then Hyperion System 9 BI+, then Analytic Administration Services, then Administration Console.

2. On Analytic Administration Services Login, enter a server name, or select one from the drop-down list. Then enter your user name and password, and click OK.

The Administration Services Administration Console window displays with business rules collapsed in the left frame of the window.

3. In the left navigation frame of Oracle’s Essbase® Administration Services, expand the Business Rules node.

4. Right-click the Administration node, then select Migrate Identities.

5. In the Migrate Identities results window, review the results of the migration, then click OK.

Note: If Planning is installed, clicking the Migrate Identities button in Planning automatically migrates identities to Hyperion® Business Rules in addition to Planning.
