Hydropower turbines Basics and design Since turbines are one of the most important components in hydropower energy production, it is a key competency to understand the basic functionality and design of hydropower turbines. In this training, attendees are introduced to the major aspects of turbines which can be applied to a broad range of hydropower plants. The explanation of turbines types and basic principles of cavitation and hydraulics set the basis to continue the training with the application layout of turbines. In addition, recent project examples are used to illustrate the design of turbines and their main components. voith.com Date and location of the session 2019-06-24 Heidenheim, Germany

Turbine maintenancePlant maintenanceRegular maintenance of turbines contributes significantly to maintain the power unit in a good condition. In any decision related to maintenance, a variety of factors has to be taken into account by the responsible personnel. In this training, reasons for maintenance are considered against the backdrop of typical aging phenomena and their effects.

After having participated, attendees shall be familiar with various options for the condition monitoring and analysis of hydropower turbines. Moreover they shall know which factors are relevant for a successful maintenance process. Training material includes practical examples that underline theoretical principles.
