On Sunday February 17th 2013 the Arab American Democratic Club held its annual brunch. The Arab American Democratic Club (AADC) is a diverse coalition of people from 22 Arab countries dedicated to improving public relations with elected officials and government representa-tives. At this year’s event AADC had as the keynote speaker, Bill Daley, President Obama’s for-mer chief of staff. It was a great success; AADC also had Judge Bill Haddad and Congressman Bill Foster. The speakers were all impressed in the number of community members who came out to support AADC. AADC’s goal is also to increase the number of registered voters state-wide and to increase political in-volvement of our community.
With the outreach of public officials and the community respond helps to achieve our goal. This success of this event sets the tone for the rest of the year. AADC are going to plan a few more events and bring in even more people. There are lots of Arab Ameri-cans who do not know about us yet and who would be excited to hear from us. AADC are going to bring in as many of those people as we can. To become a part of our growing community please visit ADDC at www.arabam-ericandemocraticclub.org or on Facebook.

It was a memorable night for all Egyptians and Middle-Eastern people in Chicago. On February 23rd 2013; Egypt Can-cer Network USA held an event “Wishing on a Star Fundraising Gala” at the Palmar House Hil-ton Hotel in downtown Chicago. Great speakers and doctors came from Egypt joined together with USA speakers to talk about Chil-dren’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357. It was a night to make a dif-ference, enlightening the guests
about the great impact and how important the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 is for us and everyone in the Middle-East. The event was hosted by Dr. Fouad Teymour, who is the ECN Ambassador. The first speaker was Maged Refaat, whom is the Consul General of Egypt. Followed by Dr. Hisham Seify, the ECN President and CEO. They both brought an in-spiration on to the great cause. It was a noble and worthy night for Egypt Cancer Network USA. The cause of this event was to raise money for the expansion for the hospital in Egypt. The Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 is not only for Egyptian, but it is for all Mid-dle- Eastern children and their family. The Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 is one of the largest hospitals held in care for many children and their fam-ily. That night was about the core of values for the children with cancer and greater goal to expan-sion for the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357. “We are a 501(c)(3) fully charitable fully tax deductible or-ganization in charge of support-ing the endeavors of the hospital by spreading awareness of their efforts to constituents here in the US. Last year, we sent them leu-kemia medication when there was a national shortage. We also provided educational support for the researchers to attend interna-tional conferences. We funded fea-sibility studies for expansion plans including a health academy and a research center. And we raised $2 million of the $8 million needed to complete the design phase for the
hospital’s new extension.” ECN
The night continued with many amazing keynote speakers, Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga, who is the founder and Vice President of Children’s Cancer Hospital of Egypt 57357, Father Bolous So-rour Banoub, Dr. Mark Kieran, and Dr. Kamal Ibrahim (Spo-ken about the memorable of Ola Gabbour). Lastly Egyptian actor Mahmoud Kabil, who is UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for the Middle Eastern and North Africa, showed a documentary of him-self in Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357. He expressed the changes the community can make for the children with cancer. In the end of the fundraising, we were left with Children’s Cancer Hospi-tal of Egypt 57357‘s core values; CARING, CURING, LEARNING, CONNECTING.
