Beauty with Motion
Left to Right: Marcella & Surayah
Beauty in Motion, held on Jan 13th, 2013, it was a very meaningful event for us. It was an honor to be able to co-create an event with a concept that was built around, Learning, Art, Culture, Beauty and Support. The students and models share a common love for Middle Eastern Music and Dance, even though they come from many different backgrounds. I have hoped to use music and dance as a positive method to communicate my admiration for the beautiful culture and people of the Middle East. I believe that music and dance is a very important part of all cultures’ history. An essential part of this event was to create positive energy and acknowledge the efforts of dedi-cated students who simply love to dance. Through teaching dance, I have been able to witness that for many students, practicing dance helps enhance ones self-esteem. The Physical and psychological achieve-ments students gain are very reward-ing. Feeling beautiful from within is a sense of inner beauty and peace. It was wonderful to see the students, models and participants all support and encourage each other. Holding this event in support of Doctors Without Borders made us work together for a greater cause. “Doctors Without Borders provides assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened
by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.” (DoctorsWith-outBorders.org) . We feel privileged to have hosted an event that supported Doctors Without Borders. 90% of their funding comes from private and non-govern-mental sources. In addition of supporting, Doctors Without Borders, it was our purpose to support small businesses with vending stations and network-ing environment for all to grow from. It was in the finale of the show, where we brought all aspects of the event together. Our vision was to produce an experience, with talented mu-sicians and singers, lovely models in the latest elegant evening gowns, and energetic rhythmic folkloric performers all demonstrating one of the many beautiful traditions that the Middle East has to offer. Combining, beauty, fashion, culture, and art we created a Zaffe (traditional Middle Eastern wed-ding procession). The beautiful evening gowns, and bride`s dress, were exhibited by generous lovely models who along with the talented band members, singers and performers donated all their time, efforts and talents. All of these sup-porting participants among the many family members, and friends made this event truly a Beauty in Motion.
