A Message from the Assistant Principal

Challenging All Wildcats!

As summer winds down and the school year begins, the routines and habits of summer are replaced with the routines and habits of a new school year. During the summer, checking your cell phone every time there was an alert was no big deal. Now with school beginning, the desire or urge to do so needs to be curbed so as not to distract from school and classroom expectations.

Being distracted throughout the school day and in the classroom is something that all students face on a daily basis. In an effort to help students eliminate the distraction, and perhaps remove themselves from the drama that often occurs via social media and texting, a challenge is being issued for the 2019-2020 school year.

The challenge is this: students who voluntarily turn in their electronic device(s) (with the exception of their Chromebook) for the day will be entered into a weekly drawing for various prizes including gift cards, earbuds, chargers, etc. Students who participate five (5) times will be entered into a drawing for a larger prize at the end of the semester.

With a new school year upon us, it is a good time to begin new habits. And if you can win a prize at the same time, all the better! The goal is not to eliminate electronic devices, as that would be unrealistic and nearly impossible. The goal is to help students develop new habits that will enable them to be less distracted and more successful throughout the school day.

A new school year is a great opportunity to set new goals and get involved in school. Goals do not have to be big or long term. Setting a goal to be on time, meet a new person or be more organized are ones that can be met quickly.

I hope everyone considers participating in the challenge. Who knows, you may realize that you are more focused in class and are better able to meet the goals that you have set for yourself!

I am looking forward to working with everyone this year to help make the year a successful one.

COCA-COLA GIVE: A REFRESHING WAY TO DONATE

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up Fall Mountain Regional High School to a new funding opportunity. The BEST part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply enter the product codes at https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools/ and our school receives a donation. If you don’t have a computer or the time to enter the codes just send them in to the school with your student and we will do it for you!!

RULES OF THE ROAD

School starts at 7:20am. Students need to be in the classroom on time. In the case of inclement weather, please have your child leave earlier to allow for slower and safer travel if driving their own vehicle to school.

Questions regarding bus routes and bus schedules should be directed to our transportation department at 835-2527.

Parents, if you are dropping off your child(ren) at school in the morning, please proceed all the way to the last row before pine tree island. This will keep the majority of the traffic flowing and is out of the bus lane.

Please call the main office before 8:30am to let us know if your child will not be in school. Do not send an email. If your child is absent due to a medical appointment, please have him/her bring a note from the medical office upon their return to school.

If your child needs to be dismissed from school early, please send them in with a note and instruct them to bring the note to the main office before the first bell. We will then write an early dismissal slip for them.

Unless it is an emergency, messages for students will be attempted to be delivered at the end of the day.

Student Parking Permits

Students who hold a valid driver’s license are eligible to apply for parking permits and drive to school. Applications are available in the front office. Students must have a copy of their driver’s license, car registration and proof of insurance as well as a $10 parking fee to be issued a parking permit.

Fall Mountain Class of 2020 will be hosting their first craft fair here at Fall Mountain High School on November 2nd from 9am-2pm.

If you are a crafter and interested in renting booth space please contact Peggy Jellie at [email protected].
