DT8 InstructionsBefore beginning assembly, make sure all pieces needed are present. A Phillips head screwdriver is the only tool required.1. Loop Element2. Loop Element Base3. See photo 1. The mesh reflector 3 has 6 large squares to the top of the mesh & 4 large squares to the bottom of reflector mesh & 2 smaller rectangular in between. Position loop element base 2 as shown in photo with hole to the top, the indentations in loop element base 2 allow it to fit exactly to the reflector so it will not fit if not positioned correctly.

See photo 2. The metal bracket seen in photo is positioned with the widest part to the top the bracket has 2 screw holes that position over holes in loop element base 2 so the small 30 mm screw bolt goes in the bottom & the larger 50mm bolt goes in top hole – we have poisoned this large bolt in the hole in bracket in photo but not screwed it down just to show where it goes.

Clip on VHF Enhancer (fig 1) to top of Refelctor 3) on the back side of mesh. So it NOT is positioned on the side of the mesh where the figure 8 Loop Element will be when fitted. The 4m cable to van external wall now screws into VHF DIAPOLE into screw marked “VHF/UHF out”. The short cable 10) goes into the screw marked “UHF in” on VHF Diapole. Before you screw loop element 1 fit the small cable 10 to the loop element 1 and push on waterproof boot, as it is much easier to finger tighten cable before the units are finally tightened together via 50 mm bolt.

Place swing head in clamps with the arrow pointing towards loop element & the PVC Pole Female pointing down.

When setting the swinging VHF arms on the back of the DT8, be sure to lift over clip to avoid breaking and reverse the procedure when taking down.

From the end of 2014 only country areas will be UHF and Australian capital cities (within approx. 100km from the city) will be VHF only. In the country you need not put VHF Dipole rods into set position simply leave them down. When in Capital city locations the rods, when set, need only be Horizontal (not vertical).

A bracket and mast to Caravan is not suppliedThis is to be purchased as a separate item. Our standard range of brackets and mast are designed to work with this model antenna. Our Multi-fit white plastic mast fits into swing head adaptor. A 20mm round timber can be used to reinforce your mast. Join to mast, put in timber and put a screw through coupling and timber. If required, contact your local hardware store. If not using a HAPPY WANDERER bracket you may need to adapt a short length of plastic mast onto your mast.

TROUBLE SHOOTINGThe main reason for no signal or pixelation after tuning may be: 1) Using push in van connection & not supplied HW019. 2) Cheaper TVs with poor quality tuners. 3) Cables installed incorrectly. Tighten all connectors fully to ensure positive contact. 4) Ensure copper centre of Co-Axial wire fits neatly into all screw connectors & not squeeze to the side. If all of the above are OK you still have a problem simply contact us for assistance. Also see “Boosters” on the back page.

“TUNING” Your TV Set On The MoveYou need to re-tuning your caravan TV set to suit each location reception. This is normal for a TV set on the move as opposed to a set permanently in one location. We feel that boosting will rarely be needed with the DT8 as the antenna has long range capabilities so it suits most Australian locations. TV Sets have a varying degrees of tuning strength. LCD TV’s tune at a lower signal frequency. If your TV is an LED TV then higher strength signal may be required. (See Boosters on back page). It may be your TV & not the antenna, especially cheaper TV sets.

WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS• When drilling holes in your Caravan or RV ensure you are aware of where electrical cables.• When fitting antenna brackets to your Caravan or RV ensure safe practices are used at all times. Use ladders or steps when unable to fit standing on the ground.• For safety sake do not set antenna up near electric wires or neon lights. • Be aware that antenna and masts may become an obstacle to people or cars. Position antenna securely on mast and mast on bracket. Regularly check condition of bracket and mast.• Avoid use of antenna in severe weather conditions such as thunderstorms or very high wind.• DO NOT bend coax cable sharply particularly near loop element entry point.
