studentswithhighqualitytraininginperformingartswhilsthelpingthemtoshineinanencouraging

environment.AtHVTyourchildwillbeguidedandnurturedbyourexpertstaffthroughthevariousstages

oftheirtraining.Wecaterforstudentsofallages,frombeginnertoadvanced,andstrivetohelpeach

performerreachtheirfullpotential.

AtHVTyoucanbeguaranteedthatourclasseshaveageappropriatemusic,costumesandchoreography.

Weunderstandtheneedsofbusyfamiliestodaysoweholdclassesforeachagegroupontheoneday!For

thosewhopreferweekendclasses,weofferclassoptionseachSaturdaymorning.Parentsarewelcometo

relaxinourcomfortablefoyerwhilstclassesareinprogressandmonitortheirchild’sprogressthroughourviewingwindows.Parentsmayalsochoosetoleaveandreturnatthecompletionoftheclass.

Allstudentsarerewardedfortheirhardworkduringtheyearwithatrophypresentedatourendofyear

presentation.‘MostImproved’,‘Encouragement’awardsandalso20Scholarshipsarepresentedattheend

ofeachyear.Scholarshipsareawardedtostudentswhohaveshownexceptionalability&progressduring

theyear.TheseScholarshipsentitlethechosenstudenttoreceiveareductioninthefollowingyearstuitionfeesandareawardedamongeachclasslevelforeachstyle.

CLASSES

PRE-SCHOOLER(2-5YEARS)

READYSETDANCE-ReadySetDanceisaonehourcomboclassjampackedwithfunincludinghiphop,

tap,jazz,singing,musicandmuchmore.Classesarespecificallydesignedforboysandgirlsandfocuson

introducingthemtobasicdancingskills,developingtheirco-ordination,rhythmskills,socialskillsand

musicality.

Leaps’nBoundsToddlerBallet–Leaps’nBoundsToddlerBalletisafavouritewithourlittleoneswhohavetheirheartsetonlearningballet.Inthis30minuteclassweintroducethebasicsofballetinafunand

interactiveway.Weimplementpropsandimaginationgamesthatstarttoencouragetheirballetskillssuch

aspointingfeet,tippytoesandco-ordination.

Leaps’nBoundsToddlerAcro–LeapsnBoundsToddlerAcroaidsinthedevelopmentofgrossmotorskills

-jumping,running,balancingandalsoincorporatesstretchingandintroducingthemtotumbling.They'll

havelotsoffunwhilstincreasingstrength,coordinationandfitness.

SCHOOLAGE(UPTO11YEARS)TAPHVT’stapclassesfocusontheL.G.T.D.A.tapsyllabusforthefirstsemesterthenconcertpreparationfor

thesecondsemester.Thistapsyllabusproducesexcellenttaptechniqueandathoroughknowledgeofall

tapvariationswhichcanbeincorporatedintoourconcertroutinestoproducefabulousresults.

BALLETHVTballetclassesfollowtheR.A.D.(RoyalAcademyofDance)syllabus,themostrecognisedballet

organisationintheworld.Learningasyllabusenablesstudentstolearnageappropriateexercisesand

developtheirskillandloveforBallet.

JAZZThisisafun,populardancestylethathelpstoshowcaseadancer’sindividualstylewithenergeticmoves,

upbeatstepsandmodernmusic.Thisclassimprovesadancersflexibilityaswellasstaminaandisgreat

exercise.Aballetclassmustbetakeninconjunctionwithjazzforoptimumresults.

HIPHOPHipHopClassesareforthosewhowishtodancetocurrentmusicfollowingtoday’smoderntrends.You

willlearnachoreographedroutineandfindthisclassfunandintricate.

ACROBATICSAcrobaticsalsoknownasAcroisaclassthatworksonprogressionsinflexibility,strength,balancing,

limberingandtumbling.DancerswhopartakeinanAcroclasshavebalanceddevelopment,arestronger,

moreflexibleandarefearless!

AGE12-SENIORSTAPOnceourstudentsmoveupintothehighergradesofL.G.D.T.A.thefocusismoreoncomplexstepsand

combinationsalongwithturns,pickupsandwings.Experienceisnecessarytoparticipateinthese

intermediateandadvancedlevelclasses.

BALLETBythetimeourstudentsprogresstothisagetheyarestartingtocoverthemajorexamsofferedbyR.A.D.

andpointeworkisintroduced.Previousballettrainingisamustwithagoodsolidtechnicalbackground.

JAZZBythisagestudentshavegraspedthebasicsofjazzandhavealreadybeguntomastertheirkicks,leaps

andturns.Theirstrongjazztechniqueisalsoreallystartingtoshinethrough.Choreographyismoving

towardsamorecommercialstyleandcombiningthetechniquetheyreceiveintheirballetclassresultswill

beimpressive.

HIPHOPNowthatwemoveintothemoreadvancedclassesthechoreographybecomesmorecomplex,thetempo

isfasterandtheroutinesmorechallenging.Thisistheperfectclassforthosewantingachallengeandwho

haveastrongjazzbackground.

CONTEMPORARY&LYRICALWhilestudyingaclassicalBalletclassyoucanalsohavetheopportunitytotakepartinourcontemporary&

lyricalclasses.Thismodernstyleofdanceutilizesthebody’snaturallinesandenergy,allowingagreater

rangeandfluidityofmovementthanconventionaldancetechniques.

TEENRECThisclassisperfectforthoseaged13-16yearswhowanttojoinanon-competitivefunclass.Theclass

offersagreatmixofjazz,ContemporaryandHipHopinarelaxedatmosphere.Theclassrunsfor90

minutesandwillconcentrateontoneandfitnesswhilstalsoincreasingfitnessandconfidencelearbing

currentanduptodatestyles.

ACROBATICSAcroclassesforolderstudentsinvolveanextensivewarmupandstretchregimefollowedbyaseriesof

exercisestoimprovestrength,flexibility,balance,controlandagility.Thisclasswillassiststudentswho

particpateinourJazzandContemporaryclassesbyhelpingthemmastertrickscommonlyperformed

today’sroutines.

ADULT

TAPThisisHVT’smostpopularadultclass.Weperformarangeoftapcombinationsonthebarreandinthe

centrethenwerehearseroutinestoperformintheendofyearconcert.Ifyoudonotwishtotakepartin

theperformancethenit’snoproblemtojustjoinourclassforfun&fitness.

COMBO–Jazz,HipHop&ContemporaryThisclassisacombinationclassandisgreatforthosewantingtogetfit,tonedandsupple.Youwillwork

onflexibility.Combinethatwithmodernmusicforacontemporaryflare.

Thestylerepresentsourcurrentcultureandisalwayschangingduetomusictrendsandstyles.This

modernstyleisgreatforallagesandability

EXAMINATIONSExaminationsareintroducedattheageoffiveandareoptional.HVToffersexamsinTap(L.G.T.D.A.)and

ClassicalBallet(R.A.D.).Weencouragestudentstoparticipateinexamsannuallyasitgivesthechildrena

greatunderstandingofterminology,appreciationformusic&rhythmandisalsoconfidencebuilding.

Examsareagreatwaytosetandreachgoalsanditoffersstudentstheincentivetoimprove.Theresults

fromsittingforanexamareveryrewarding.

Classrequirementstoattemptanannualexam-

weekfromPrimary.Grade1&Grade2willrequiretwoclassesandacharacter/examdancegrouplesson

oraprivatelessoninplaceofthecharacterclassandfromGrade3,twoclasses,acharacter/dance/pointe

classandaprivatelessonarerequired.Privatelessonsmaybesharedwithanexampartnertoreduce

costs.LeotardsandcharacterskirtsarehiredfromtheStudiofortheballetexamfromPrimarytoGrade5

level.FromIntermediateFoundationandaboveyouwillbeadvisedwhatleotardandstyletopurchase.

EISTEDDFODSOLOWORKHVTstudentshavebeenverysuccessfulformanyyearscompetinginsolosatEisteddfods,winningmany

awardsandchampionships.Weprideourselvesonourreputation,professionalismandourresultsareofa

veryhighstandard.Eisteddfodsareagreatwayforchildtogainconfidenceandboosttheirself-esteem

throughtheachievementsthatcanbegained.Ifyouareinterestedingainingmorestagetimeoryouhave

adancerthatwouldlovetoperformonstageontheirownwecanhelp.Alongwithaprivatelesson,an

eisteddfodgroupclassisrequiredonceyouhavetworoutinesormore.Thisiswhereyourroutinesare

polishedwhichleavesyourprivatelessontimetofocusonnewroutines.Practiseshouldalsotakeplaceat

homeduringtheweektooandisveryimportantforimprovement.

CLASSUNIFORMS

WhenbeginningadanceclassaHVTdancerisrequiredtopurchasetheproperattireandapprovedshoes.

ThedresscodethatHVTStudioofPerformingArtsimplementsisultimatelyforthebenefitofthestudent.

Dresscodesensurethattheinstructorcanseethedancer’sbodyandverifythattheyhavethecorrect

alignmentandposture.Thepinktightswearableforballetclassesmakethelinesofthelegsvisible.You

mayfeeluncomfortablewearingballetstockingsduringthewarmermonthsbutitismuchbetterforthe

dancerslegstohavesupportwhilstdancingandballetstockingsabsorbthesweatandmoisture.Looseand

baggyclothinghidemistakesandincorrectposture.Whenallofourdancersarefollowingadresscode

theycanbemorefocused.Dancingisadisciplineandmustberespectedassuch.Followingadresscode

teaches focusanddiscipline.

Formanydancers,puttingonthecorrectleotardhelpsthemachievethemindframeneededtopractice.

Thedancersareeffectively“dressingthepart.”Dresscodesalsocreateunityamongthedancers.Noone

dancercanstandoutmorethananother.Manybeginnerstakecomfortinknowingthatthereisnostress

aboutwhattoweartoclass.Everydancerhasachancetosparklebecauseoftheirskillnottheirattire.

Whenstudentsaredressedalike,it’seasierforateachertospotsomeoneoutofformorbehindthecount.

Dancersweartheirhairpulledbackinabunsotheyhaveafullrangeofsightwhileperforming.Ifyouneedassistancepleasebringyourhairgeartoclassandyourteacherwillbemorethanhappytohelpout.Bunkitsareavailablefor$15andincludeeverythingfromhairbandstothecorrectbunpinsand

hairnets.

EverystudentdancingwithHVTwillwearourstudioleotardsanduniformsprintedwiththeHVTlogoto

andduringallclasses(nootherattire/leotardswillbeacceptedinourclassesexceptduringtrials&whilst

uniformsarebeingordered).Thecorrectfootwearmustalsobewornforsafedancepracticeandbe

approvedbyamemberofourstaff.

At HVT Studio of Performing Arts, we believe that every child can be taught

to shine. By introducing them to a variety of styles we can see their talent emerge and help them to realise their full potential.

Frequently asked questions... * IS THERE AN ENROLMENT FEE? An annual non-refundable registration fee of $35.00 per student must be paid at enrolment to cover administration costs including copyright and intellectual property fees for music. * CAN I WATCH MY CHILD’S CLASSES This is not permitted due to distractions that occur with parents and siblings in the room. Viewing windows are available for parents to watch their child as they learn and we also have CCTV with a monitor in the parent waiting room. * WHAT DO THEY WEAR FOR THE FIRST LESSON? A singlet or t-shirt and shorts or leggings are fine to get started. Sneakers are acceptable until you are sure your child will be continuing class. * DO WE NEED TO PURCHASE UNIFORM AND SHOES? All students must wear our HVT uniform and approved dance footwear in all dance classes. Uniform must be purchased from HVT within the first month of commencing classes. Uniform order forms are available on our website. * IF WE MISS A LESSON/ PRIVATE LESSON CAN IT BE MADE UP ON ANOTHER DAY OF THE WEEK? Classes and private lessons cannot be made up on another day if you are unable to attend. Only “Ready Set Dance, Leaps n Bounds Toddler Ballet & Leaps n Bounds Toddler Acro” may attend a different day in the same week that they will be absent in a term. Conditions apply - Limit of 1 swap per term, notice must be given in writing via email at least 24 hours prior and be pre-booked and subject to class availability. * DO WE PAY FOR COSTUMES FOR THE CONCERT? Costumes play an enormous part in portraying themes and give the students a taste of the magical world of stage. They reflect HVT’s standard and adds to the professionalism of our concerts. Students will be required to purchase one costume per class that they participate in except the Pre Intermediates and above who may require two. For each class performed in the concert a costume deposit of $50 must be paid by the end of Term 2 for Juniors and $100 for Intermediates and Seniors. * CAN MY CHILD TRIAL A CLASS TO SEE IF HE/SHE LIKES IT? We don’t doubt that your child will absolutely love our classes, but before committing to the term payment your child can try any number of classes week 1 to make sure they are in the right class. You will only be sent an invoice for the full term on the classes you decide to enrol in.
