Type of Documentary The BBC documentary was mixed due
to the fact that it included observation, narration, interviews and archive material. However it did not include actuality footage.
Themes The main themes in the documentary
were rivalry, victory, tragedy, family and respect.
Narrative Structure Hunt vs Lauda: F1’s Greatest Racing
Rivals had a single stranded, closed, linear and circular narrative structure.

Sound The narrator was male and spoke in standard
English, he was also calm. Diagetic sound of the cars whizzing past. Non diagetic music which is used as a music bed
beneath narration and interviews. Crowds chanting. Current music at the time like synth. Sound of a scoreboard ticking over. Music to create tension and to put emphasis on
the topic.
Editing The most common edit is the cut, it is simple and
is not noticed by the audience. Flashes edited in. Clip made to look older. Montages are used in cooperation with dissolves
as still images change.

Graphics The use of superimpose was the most common in
the documentary. Names are superimposed in larger fonts than the
subline below which anchors the person to the topic.

BBC logo is constantly superimposed in the top left corner.
The place of action is superimposed. A scoreboard is superimposed.
