The Very Hungry

One Sunday morning in France, the warm sun came up and POP! – out the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

Pierre lived on the 3rd leaf and had to pay apples (taxes) to the caterpillar that lived on the 2nd leaf. Pierre was hungry.

Pierre knew that France was in a financial disaster because of deficit spending, so he ate an apple out of depression, but he was still hungry.

On Tuesday, the Bastille was taken over, so he ate two pears, but he was still hungry…

On Wednesday, he called for a meeting at the tennis courts. Many caterpillars that lived on the 3rd leaf attended. Hours later, they created the Declaration of the Rights of Caterpillars.

Later that day, Pierre and his lady friends marched to Versailles and demanded Louis and his wife to move to Paris. In celebration, Pierre ate a lot that night… ;)

On Thursday, Pierre didn’t know that The Reign of Terror was occurring. Louis had already been executed by a big machinery called the guillotine, so he ate four strawberries.

The Reign of Terror was a period of time where political violence clashed between the Jacobins and the Royalists.

On Friday, when peace was finally restored, a new type of government called The Directory was formed. Pierre threw a party and ate five oranges, but he was still hungry…

On Saturday, Napoleon Bonaparte in a coup de tat took over France. Hearing the news, Pierre was so excited that he ate watermelon, mash potatoes, and a croissant.

The next day, he wasn’t hungry anymore-and he wasn’t a little caterpillar any more. Pierre was a big, fat caterpillar and morphed into a cocoon.

Two weeks later, Pierre transformed into not a butterfly, but into Terry Crews on a horse.
