WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF METEOROLOGY?

• In 1998 the Society celebrated its 10th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the generation of its father the Australian Branch of the Royal Meteorological Society. Several articles on the history were published in the August 1998 AMOS Bulletin.

• Also in 2001 the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre produced a history of Federation and Meteorology

• The word 'meteorology' was created from a research book called 'Meteorologica' which was written by Aristotle, a Greek scientist and philosopher.

• It is for understanding the dynamics of atmosphere and forecasting weather amazing like hurricanes and thunderstorms.

HOW HAS THE HUMAN UNDERSTANDING OF METEOROLOGY CHANGED AS NEW

EVIDENCE HAS COME AVAILABLE?

Meteorologists continue to proceed in there in there field, and modern technology has certainly help fuel this

Armed with a wide variety of instruments, computer models, and techniques, modern meteorologists are learning more than ever about weather and Earth's atmosphere

But once this technology made cross-continental information easy to share, meteorologists could start piecing together more large-scale patterns of weather and climate.

HOW DOES METEOROLOGY MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO OUR WORLD?

• If we didn’t have rain, plants will die and we will die of thirst and hunger

• If we didn’t have a sun we would have no vitamin c and some plants will not survive because plants need water and sunlight

• we use a lot when we are at school, at school, at the gym e.c.t

• If we had no sun there would be no deserts and the world would be taken with water

• If there was no rain the planet would be dry and full of deserts
