WHAT ARE HORMONES?Hormones are chemical messengers that travel throughout the body coordinating complex processes like growth, metabolism, and fertility. The hormones influence the function of the immune system, alter behavior, and before birth they guide development of the brain, and reproductive system.

FUNCTIONS OF ORGANS PART 11.The hypothalamus controls the secretion of hormones from the pituitary

gland and is a mechanism which detects negative and positive feedback to maintain homeostasis in the blood 2.The pituitary is a gland at the base of the brain that sends signals to other glands and organs.3.The thymus partially helps protect the heart along with the pericardium. It produces hormones that simulate the production of certain infection fighting cells.4.The thyroid produces a hormone (thyroxin) (under control of the pituitary gland) that controls your rate of metabolism.5.The parathyroid controls the body's calcium level.6.The adrenal produces epinephrine(adrenaline) and norepinephrine(nerotransmeter for hormones) in order to maintain susceptible blood sugar levels

FUNCTIONS OF ORGANS PART 27.The pancreas is to regulate blood sugar (it produces digestive enzymes)8.The ovaries are about the size and shape of an almond and sit just above the fallopian tubes – one ovary on each side of the uterus.9.The testes function is to produce hormones.
