Hulse commenced works in March 2009 on the College’s Watford Campus in, which will open its doors to in September 2010. The new building will encompass an open mall area, which the public can access to enjoy a café, restaurant, hair and beauty salon, all run by West Herts College students. There will also be open space for art and culture exhibitions and the possibility for a shared performance space for the College and other community groups. The project required Hulse to carry out the installation of all electrical services including:- LV switchgear; submains and rising busbar; lighting and emergency lighting including specialised control and dimming systems; complete power installation to all areas including workshops. IT suites and teaching kitchen; all safety systems including fire alarms, CCTV, security, intruder alarms and DDA requirement. The second phase of the project will involve the formation of a new car park and Hulse will be installing external lighting and CCTV systems. The inner courtyard of the project will be an external Performance Area and Hulse will provide lighting and specialist power; complete IT data system and AV systems for the Performance Arts area.

WEST HERTS COLLEGE, WATFORD

ASHBURTON COURT, WINCHESTER

Client: Hampshire County Council

Value: £4 m Electrical Installation Services

Ashburton Court was built in the 1960s and consists of two multi-storey blocks built over car parking. The refurbishment of Ashburton Court, one of Hampshire County Council’s main headquarters office buildings in Winchester, will provide flexible and efficient offices and functional space for building and service users. The project required Hulse to carry out the complete installation of all electrical services including:- fire alarms, CCTV, data, power and lighting. This project was completed July 2009.

HILTON HOTEL, SOUTHSIDE, READING

Client: Hilton Group Value: £3.9 m Electrical Installation Services

Hulse completed the electrical services to this new prestigious hotel situated on the outskirts of Reading in April 2009. The hotel offers facilities for 210 bedrooms, conference rooms, specialist function rooms. The project required Hulse to carry out the installation of all electrical services including:- MV & LV switchgear; sub mains and distribution equipment; generator, UPS, central battery emergency lighting system, general and decorative lighting including specialised control and dimming systems; complete power installation to all areas including kitchens; IT suites and bedrooms. Hulse have provided the complete IT data system, Interactive TV system and AV systems for the restaurants and function room areas. All safety systems including fire alarms, CCTV, Security intruder alarms and DDA requirement. Etc were also provided.

BUILDING 85, UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON

Client: University of Southampton

Value: £2.6 m Electrical Installation Services

Hulse commenced work on this project in June 2009 and are due to complete in April 2010. The new building will comprise a 7 storey office and laboratory facility for the IFLS faculty. The project requires Hulse to carry out the installation of all electrical services including:- MV and LV services, lighting, general power and all specialised systems to laboratories, together with fire safety, security and disabled alarm and evacuation facilities.

MILTON KEYNES RESIDENTIAL INFRASTRUCTURE & UNDERGROUND CAR PARKS

Client: Abbeygate

Value: £2.1 m Electrical Installation Services

Hulse completed works to a new development in the heart of Milton Keynes. The development consisted of 440 apartments, retail spaces, Sainsbury’s supermarket, two underground car parks and two office blocks. The project was completed in December 2008. The project required Hulse to carry out the installation of all electrical services to all landlord’s areas including; LV switchgear; sub mains; lighting and emergency lighting; general small power installation . The main infrastructure to the site was carried out by Hulse to facilitate future retails spaces and provide containment systems to the residential dwellings. Two underground car parks were provided with Hulse installing the lighting and fire alarm systems. The office blocks were stand alone from the main buildings and provided space for fitting out by others, Hulse provided lighting and emergency lighting including specialised control and dimming systems; complete power installation & fire alarm systems.

AYLESBURY COLLEGE, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Client: Buckinghamshire County Council

Value: £1.7 m Electrical Installation Services

The college is a new build which has replaced the original building on the existing site. Phase 1 is approximately 12000m² with Phase 2 being approximately 4500m². It is a four storey building providing classrooms on the upper levels. The lower levels house a sports hall, hairdressing salons, beauty therapy rooms, training kitchens, photography rooms, dance studios, science labs, training restaurant, library research centre, canteen and an engineering block. The project was completed in 2007.

THE BRIDGE, DARTFORD

Client: John Sisk & Son Ltd Value: £1.6 m Electrical & Mechanical Installation Services

A new distribution and industrial park at Dartford named ‘The Bridge’ with 1.5 million ² ft of commercial space, and around 500,000 ² ft of offices overlook landscaped lakes, and the River Thames. Scope of works included full design and installation of the mechanical and electrical services to the Management Centre and Building 103. This project was completed January 2007.

Hulse has completed work on the transformation of the former Working Men’s Club site into a new retail complex in January 2009. The scheme provides major stores such as Halfords, Carpet Right, Homebase, Pets at Home, Dreams and Paul Simon. The site is classed as ‘bulky goods retail’ and includes a combination of larger stores and smaller units, a car park and a new Working Men’s Club for the town. The Abbey Retail Park is the first phase of plans by Daventry District Council to update the town centre. Scope of works included the full design and installation.

Hulse has completed work to the extension at the Kennet Shopping Centre, Newbury in November 2009. The extension provide five new Cafes and Restaurants situated around a new Mall Square, with an open Cinema Foyer accessing seven screens. Two new Mall entrances will also be provided linking to existing retail units at the Kennet Centre. The project required Hulse to carry out the design and installation of the following services: mains distribution, lighting, power, emergency lighting, fire alarms, mechanical plant wiring, CCTV, security and lightning protection.

KENNET CENTRE, NEWBURY

Client: Plus Shops Value: £750 k Electrical Design and Installation

Hulse completed work on Stockley Park in November 2006, a contract to revitalise a building formerly occupied by a global IT equipment supplier. Stockley Park, which is located alongside the M4, next to London’s Heathrow Airport, will then be occupied by some 600 people from BP, who are relocating from a nearby building. The works undertaken by Hulse included recommissioning of the entire HV and LV electrical installation, which had not been used for some 5 years. As well as periodic electrical inspection and testing, in accordance with NICEIC requirements, the works will also included recommissioning of the fire alarm system, replacement of emergency lighting batteries and a full service to the standby generator to restore these systems to operation condition.
