Making a Weekend of Your Time Here? It’s no secret that we are one of the oldest universities in the country, but did you know that 10 minutes down the road our city centre offers lots of opportunities for a fun day out. From The Deep, the world’s only submarium, to eight different museums including Ferens Art Gallery, there is something for everyone.

With a £200m investment Ferensway has been transformed into a vibrant commercial hub with St Stephens shopping and leisure complex, bringing together high street shops, a cinema, restaurants and a hotel all under one roof.

For those culture vultures there are three theatres in the city. The most famous of which is the nationally renowned Hull Truck Theatre. Other venues across the city include Hull New Theatre, where you can see touring shows from the West End and City Hall, a frequent venue for stars of the stand-up comedy circuit. KC Stadium hosts Hull FC Rugby League and Hull City football matches, yet also doubles as a concert venue seeing the likes of REM, Bon Jovi and JLS. Likewise, Hull Ice Arena regularly welcomes A-listers such as Keane, The Killers, and the Arctic Monkeys.

Only a 15-minute drive from Hull is the historic market town of Beverley. With its cobbled streets, a majestic Minster, designer boutiques and a thriving café culture, Beverley is a must see destination.

Hull is ideally located to explore some of our 35 miles of heritage coastline, which is peppered with seaside towns and villages. Hornsea is just a half hour’s drive from Hull with a lovely sandy beach, and a busy promenade to stroll along. Further along the coast you can find the Victorian Spa town of Scarborough and the traditional maritime town of Whitby, with its thirteenth century abbey and strongliteraryconnectionstoDracula;bothtownsaregreat destinations for a trip to the seaside.
