Its original name from when the story began on September 7, 1961, when the club opened as Mecca’s Hull Locarno Ballroom. It was opened by Miss World creator Eric Morley and his wife, along with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of the time. Back then, the

club resembled a huge dance hall and was loved by those who enjoyed big-time traditional ballroom dancing.

The club was renamed Tiffany’s in 1972 as demand for more seats increased. Ten years after opening

as Tiffany’s, the club was given another revamp and renamed Peppermint Park. It was a name that lasted

only three years after First Leisure bought it in 1986 and called it Lexington Avenue on November 13.

Its £1m facelift kept the club as the number one venue in the city, and in 1995 another £1.5m was pumped into keeping it the top nightspot. In 1992, the club was the

first in the city to get a licence to stay open until 2am and began opening throughout the week.

The club was split between a main dance area downstairs and the DJ Diner, which served fast food. Upstairs was home to the VIP room that overlooked the dance floor,

the Orleans Room and Reflections disco.

As the 70s era grew more distant, 70s theme nights took over and the Busstop event every Tuesday gave clubbers a chance to dig out their flares and remind themselves

of times gone by and Skool Daze Monday night that drew the school-uniformed crowds.

With a £25 million investment, the site has now been brought up to date with the introduction of Hull’s

DoubleTree by Hilton with its very own rooftop bar. A place designed for sophisticated late night drinks as well

as relaxing day time experiences filled with stunning natural daylight providing an elevated perspective.
