I hope everyone had a peaceful and restful winter break. It is hard to believe that the first semester has almost come to a close. We have had many exciting events at Huegel thus far, including several PTO-sponsored Events such as the Back to School BBQ, Open House, Ice Cream Social, Frosty Ball, monthly Popcorn Days, and monthly Movie Nights. We could not carry out these fun events without the wonderful support of our many parent volunteers. We also had our first round of Parent-Teacher Conferences in November. Our teachers reported record attendance rates, and are very excited to meet again with parents in March to share updates on the progress your child has made. Please feel free, though, to stay in regular contact with your child’s teacher about their progress. We know that students do their best when parents and teachers maintain consistent communication. As we enter the long winter months please remember to send your child with plenty of warm clothing. Feel free to contact our social worker, Emily Wacker, if you need assistance securing these items. We will not go outside when the wind child reaches -10 degrees. When there is snow on the ground we want each child to wear boots and snowpants. We will be bringing out the sleds once there is snow! 2 HUEGEL HIGHLIGHTS

Finally, I encourage you to sit down with your child and reflect on what they have learned so far this year. Ask them things like:• Tell me me about a story you have written.• What is a favorite fiction or nonfiction book you have read? • What math facts have you mastered? What are you working on now?• What did you learn about in science? social studies?• How have you been a good friend?

I am so proud of how hard our students have worked so far this year, and I look forward to seeing their continued growth throughout the year.

Best,

Abby Potter-Davis, Huegel [email protected]
