Team Member Engagement Survey 2017
Message from President & CEO
David Strong
As an organization, we are com-
mitted to achieving our strategic
imperative to become the best
place to work and believe that
you’re why we are the best hospi-
tal possible. We want to hear more
from you about making Orlando
Health an irresistible and great
place to work.
To help gather your ideas and com-
ments efficiently, we are once
again launching our annual Team
Member Engagement Survey
through The Advisory Board Com-
pany based in Washington DC.
All team members should have
received an email from me with
their survey link and unique pass-
word.
Security
In light of the recent national and
international cyber-attacks and
the extra caution our team mem-
bers are now taking with external
emails, I made the decision to
send this initial survey email with
your survey link and password
from my mailbox. There will be
reminder emails throughout the
survey period sent on my behalf
from the Advisory Board with the
“from” line reading: Orlando
Health Team Member Survey
Confidentiality
You should know that the Adviso-
ry Board protects the identity of
all team members who respond
to the survey. To ensure confi-
dentiality only the Advisory Board
will receive the data gathered
from the survey. The results are
reported as an average and your
name will never be linked to your
responses.
Support
If you have any questions you
may contact the Orlando Health
HR Solutions Center at
321.841.8623 for assistance.
Team members at Physician Asso-
ciates, South Lake Hospital,
Health Central Hospital and
Health Central Park may contact
their local HR offices for assis-
tance. You may also visit https://
advisorysurveys.com/help to
view commonly asked questions
or to submit a help request.
The survey takes about five to
eight minutes to complete and is
available online and accessible via
computer, tablet, or mobile de-
vice.
Your personal feedback is ex-
tremely important to me and the
organization. Thank you for your
continued willingness to share
your input. Your contributions are
what make us a great place to
work and receive care!

O2 TANKS ATTENTION:
HELP! Please assist us in letting
team members know that the
O2 tanks stored in the USED
racks on the floors can still be
used until empty.
Reminders:
USED tanks should be used 1st
(if not empty).
Look and read the pressure
regulator dial.
This will prevent waste of O2.
It’s OK to use partially-filled
cylinders, but they are not to
be stored with unopened ones,
per JC. Everyone is doing a
great job in separating FULL
and USED tanks. Below are
pictures of portable E cylinders
properly stored.

PCT Documentation
P A G E 4
PCTs are responsible to provide
accurate documentation when
repositioning a patient. Overriding
the details screen (the gray box
below) is not acceptable. If a
patient develops a pressure injury
this data is important to determine
where our process is
broken. ED Techs
must manually docu-
ment repositioning and
off- loading.
If a patient refuses to
be repositioned, in a gentle way
explain why they are being turned
and that not turning them could
cause them to develop a pressure
injury “bed sore” you must then
document the refusal. If it’s not
documented the record reflects
that you didn’t make an attempt.
Every 2 hour turns include during
the night when the patient is asleep
especially if the patient can’t reposi-
tion themselves. The patients likely
need to be checked also for incon-
tinence every 2 hours which can be
done at the same time they are
turned.
The A in RACE stands for:
ASSESS
ASSESS the situation.
ALARM
Pull the ALARM.
ARRANGE
ARRANGE for patient safety.
RACE and PASS are acronyms
to help us remember what to do in
the event of a fire. We need to
know the meaning of these acro-
nyms without looking at our badg-
es. Each week you will get a
chance to win a prize if you email
O'Brien, Lynn M.
with the correct answer. The
12th responder gets the prize.

There will a mandatory two

ioral patient’s.

identify and de-escalate a potential
risk for harm to the patient and
yourself. The Education Dept. will
be offering 5 sessions for you to
pick from.
Please check your available sched-
ules and register in Net Learning
for one of the sessions.

NTC classrooms.
More information to come for the
Emergency Dept. PCT’s and Para-
medics, stay tuned.
Work out loud/narrate your
care
Fix the white board during
bedside shift report - before
you leave the room
Always introduce yourself and
state the purpose of your visit
and ask for permission before
doing anything with or to the
patient – especially if it is an
invasive procedure (lab draw,
IV, finger stick).
It has been three weeks since we
wrapped phase one of the patient
experience simulation sessions. I
wanted to share some of the in-
sights and comments that team
members as their “take aways” at
the end of each session:
Check the name band during
report
It is bedside shift report, not
doorway shift report, not at
the red line shift report – we
have to get in there.
Review of Simulation Sessions
This is just a friendly reminder to help
everyone with the schedule!!
Please DO NOT turn in “Shift
Exchange Agreement” forms for
future schedules.
Shift Exchange Agreement forms will
only be accepted for the schedule that
is Closed, Final and Posted!
Any “ Shift Exchange Agreement”
forms that are turned in for a
schedule that is NOT “Closed, Final,
and Posted”, will not be processed
and will be shredded.

New Patient’s Bill of Rights Passed for the State of Florida
(Please Complete a Brief CBL in NetLearning )
A new bill signed into law by
Governor Scott makes changes
to the Summary of the Florida
Patient’s Bill of Rights and
Responsibilities effective July 1,
2017.
The new law gives a patient
the right to bring a friend or
family member with them to
healthcare facilities while re-
ceiving inpatient or outpatient
treatment. The only exception
to this law is if the presence of
an additional person risks the
safety or health of the patient
or the healthcare staff or if an
additional person cannot be
accommodated by the facility
or provider.
The Patient’s Bill of Rights and
Responsibilities with this new
change is in the process of
being updated and will be post-
ed in patient entrance areas.
Team members should be
aware of this change and make
accommodations, when possi-
ble, for a friend or family mem-
ber accompanying a patient in
treatment areas.
FAQ
Q : How does this change
affect team members?
A : Team members should
be aware of the change
to the Summary of the Florida
Patient’s Bill of Rights and
Responsibilities and make ac-
commodations, when possible,
for a friend or family member
accompanying a patient in
treatment areas.
Q : What if we already al-
low friends and family
members to accompany pa-
tients in treatment areas?
A : Many areas are already
accommodating guests in
treatment areas and should
continue to do so.
Q : Why should we accom-
modate friends or family
members in treatment areas?
A : Providing patients the
option of having a friend
or family member accompa-
ny them to treatment areas
enables us to deliver an excep-
tional patient experience.
Q : The Patient’s Bill of
Rights and Responsibili-
ties in my area is out of date.
Should I take it down?
A : No. The Patient’s Bill of
Rights and Responsibili-
ties with this new change is in
the process of being updated
and will be posted and re-
placed in patient entrance
areas automatically.
Q : What should we do if a
visitor risks the safety or
health of the patient or the
healthcare staff?
A : If a visitor in the treat-
ment area risks the safe-
ty or health of the patient or
team members, then this
would be an allowable excep-
tion to the law.
Q : What if there is not
room for the patient’s
guest in a treatment area?
A : If there is not room to
accommodate a visitor in
a treatment area, then this
would be considered an allow-
able exception to the law.
