Wheel offortune at RWM

Page 5: Hub-4 Recycling Focus

Bell Equipment UK will challenge the industry atRWM to match the benchmark it has set with itsground-breaking range of wheeled loaders.

This year marks only the second time Bell has exhibitedat RWM, having introduced its six-strong wheeledloader range to the UK only three years ago. Themanufacturer will be exhibiting an L1204E and anL1506E loader, both with Hi-Tip buckets, on outdoorstand OA142.

Bell will be pushing three core benefits of its product, which it believes redefine wheeled loaders for thewaste and recycling industry. These are:

QuadCool: The industry-leading cooling system whichis unique to Bell loaders in the UK. Developed by JohnDeere for the US agricultural market, QuadCool hasproven outstanding within the UK waste & recyclingsector, particularly in indoor waste facilities andenvironments with high levels of airborne debris. Thesystem prevents the engine from overheating, reducesdowntime and significantly reduces the frequency ofcleaning routines.

High-Spec machines: Bell wheeled loaders are widelyrecognised as offering the highest “as standard”specification on the market. This means that Bell notonly supplies all machines with its unique designelements but its machines are also factory-fitted withitems that other manufacturers typically include only asoptional extras. Examples include the reversing camera

and reverse radar detection system, embedded payloadsystem and keyless start with lock-out codes for added security.

Bell Assure: This is a package of Bell's added-value offering, which have been formalised with measurable levels of serviceand guarantee and pulled together under a single umbrella.Bell Assure provides customers with a transparent menu ofservices far beyond the supply of yellow metal. The packageincludes flexible finance, multiple servicing and R&Mpackages, market-leading parts availability and serviceexchange programmes and the industry's most advancedoffering in terms of satellite-based fleet management systemsand plant security.

Neville Paynter, managing director of Bell UK, said: “Ourinaugural RWM show last year proved to be a major success, with our loaders attracting huge interest from many potentialcustomers who didn't know us previously. We're very excitedto be returning this year.

“We've made enormous headway over the past 12 months inachieving sales through successful on-site demonstrations in thewaste and recycling industry.

“Bell is confident that it supplies the very best wheeled loaderson the market, and we believe that message is getting throughto our target customers.”

Paynter said that the presence of QuadCool and the fact thatBell offers such a high “as standard” specification with itsloaders, meant that other suppliers would have difficulties inmatching the benchmark.

“We've redefined what customers expect of wheeled loaders,”he said. “And when we make the purchasing process, maintenance and general after-sales support so customer-friendly with our very clear and comprehensive Bell Assurepackage, we believe we have genuinely raised the bar.”

As part of this plan, Master Magnets will be returning to theRecycling and Waste Management exhibition this September. After the success of RWM 2011, the company has opted to havea larger stand for this year's show and will again be showcasinga range of its equipment on stand 19V15. Located along the frontaisle, near the main entrance, Mastermag will be demonstratingan Eddy Current Separator system as well as a Self-CleaningOverband Magnet.

Mastermag have high hopes for this year's exhibition, especiallyafter the successful combination of RWM and CIWM, whichresulted in a much larger number of enquiries last year. Havingjust posted some very impressive figures reflecting significantgrowth over the past twelve months, Master Magnets are planningfurther expansion for the coming year. Notably the development ofthe Metal Detection brand and the investment in anApprenticeship programme as well as recruitment of moreexperienced staff to cope with the ever increasing demand forquality MasterMag equipment.

The European debt crisis has had adetrimental effect on the manufacturingindustry recently. Having affected themajority of Europe's countries, thefinancial downturn has lead to manycompanies having to put their projectson hold.

Despite Europe's troubles, Master Magnet'sequipment sales have continued to thrivewith an ever-increasing amount of MagneticSeparators and Metal Detection equipmentbeing sold to Asia, the Middle-east andAustralasia.

Recent international projects have includedthe manufacture of four Eddy CurrentSeparators for an organic fertiliser processin Thailand. Each of the 1250mm wideseparators are to be used for theseparation of non-ferrous metals such asaluminium from the fertiliser. In addition tothe ECS units, the company also askedMaster Magnets to supply four OverbandMagnets for the continuous removal of anyferrous metals.

Other notable orders include some largeOverbands that have been supplied forcoal processing applications in Indonesiaas well as a large quantity of manual-cleanSuspension Magnets that were supplied fora diverse range of applications in Dubai.

Sales Manager, Phil Tree writes: As anactive international sales operation, ouroverseas Agents have collectively helped usto significantly increase our export turnover

Improved bale size resolves issues forcontainerised transportation of RDFwaste.

Leading baler and recycling equipmentengineers Middleton Engineering will beshowing the UK's first pre-press, twin-ram balerat 2012 RWM. For waste managementcompanies and councils dealing withmunicipal waste, and exporters requiringoptimised container weight, this baler hasbeen engineered to withstand a press force ofover 200 tonnes producing very dense balesand building in capacity for upgrading.

The British-made baler's prepress technologycombines the strength of the twin ram with thespeed of a channel baler for faster throughputand will be used on plastics, cardboard, paper, cans, hard plastics, some WEEE wastetogether with aluminium extrusions.

Called the Middleton ME2R150P, it is also the first baler to combine bothwire and plastic tie capabilities in the same machine, making it very quickto switch from different waste streams such as cardboard, which requireswire ties, to RDF which uses plastic.

Middletons believe they are the first European manufacturer to produce asquare section bale of 1050 x 1050 x 1400mm, designed to cutloading and handling times by a third. The optimised bale size can bemore easily loaded and any wrapping protected to provide operatorswith a cleaner, more hygienic solution, while maximising the payload.

Middletons also manufacture pre-press channel, shear and closed endbalers, full MRF systems, conveyors and shredders as well as selling andrefurbishing all brands of machines.

Demonstrating that British design and manufacturing can hold its own, thecompany has also successfully exported products to Ireland, Norway,Denmark and even Malta. Scandinavia's largest recycling company,Ragn-Sells, took delivery of its second Middleton baler earlier this yearand Middletons has just won a further two Scandinavian orders.

DUO Manufacturing

Following a successful 12 months since the last RWM show DUO Manufacturing will again be attending theevent. Since the last show DUO Manufacturing have been involved in several projects relating to therecycling and waste management industry and are looking forward to discussing the solutions they haveprovided with visitors to their stand.

Dudley Lloyd - Director, commented “RWM has always proved a successful event for us in the past and we'relooking forward to this year's event. We've had a busy year since the last show so the opportunity to catch up withso many of our customers in one place, as well as networking with new contacts, is not one to be missed. I'mlooking forward to discussing the benefits that our latest installations have delivered as we've undertaken someinteresting projects since last year's show, some of which are the types of recycling facilities we have traditionalinstalled, others more specialist.”

Max Solutions and manufacturer EdgeInnovation will again be co-exhibiting at RWM.With Max Solutions representing Edge in the UKthe two companies will be show placing twonew products at the event.

The first machine being the new Edge Shredderwhich, due to Edge's on-going productdevelopment, now features a larger shreddingchamber; the increased shaft size allows for greaterthroughput.

The second machine is Edge's all new mobiletrommel. The heavy duty trommel combines thelatest technology to reduce fuel usage andoperating costs. This includes a load sensing drum, low reving engine with auto stop and a remotecontrol for all the mainfunctions so that the machinecan be set up by a single operator and managedfrom the loader.

Commenting on the equipment and the upcoming show, JohnMcGuinness - Max Solutions - commented “Working with Edgeenables us to offer equipment which is comparable to the biggestbrand names in the market but with lower operating costs and aquicker return on investment. The show is an opportunity for us toshow more people the equipment on offer and add to ourdemonstration schedule.

Having saved primary manufacturingindustries millions of pounds ofexpenditure through the introduction ofbespoke materials handling solutionsused to handle abrasive and hard tohandle minerals and fuels, total solutionprovider Kingfisher Industrial areexhibiting at this year's RWM 2012.Having followed the trail of materials throughto the recycling industry, they have built up asuccessful portfolio of applications where thealternative prior to their interaction was costlyreplacement or time consuming repair costs ofMRF, glass, wood and aggregate recyclingplants. They will be exhibiting a rangematerials and equipment used to extend theservice life of recycling plant by meeting keyindustry demands for increased throughput andoperational uptime, while reducingmaintenance and running costs. As the processing of mixed recycling materialsbecomes more efficient and mechanised, theability to maximise earning potentials dependson efficient continual operation of all processcritical plant and equipment. Kingfisher hasspent over 30 years providing independentadvice, engineered solutions and installationof wear protection solutions to suit thisequipment, providing up to 20 years ofguaranteed service-free use.

Already a leading supplier in the power generation and bulk solidshandling sectors, Kingfisher is seeing an increasing demand for itsknowhow from the waste and recycling sector, hence the reason forexhibiting at this year's show. This is mainly due to industries target ofreducing their operations carbon footprint, as manufacturing industry nowutilises a far greater proportion of recycled material within theirmanufacturing process thus reducing expensive mineral extractive costsand can likewise reduce their fossil fuel costs through the combustion ofsecondary refuse fuels supplied by the municipal waste processingcompanies. As a whole plethora of materials are now being recycled: includingglass, ash, metals, plastics, wood, paper and even stone, thesematerials are extremely abrasive when transferred; especially so whenthey are conveyed in greater volumes and in larger automatedoperations where the process involves mechanical and pneumaticmovement. If adequate wear protection is not provided, the inevitableresult will be high levels of plant degradation that can cause prematurefailure such as perforations in pipework systems, transfer chutes, materialseparators, cyclones, fans, filters, crushing and shredding equipmentresulting in spillages that can be difficult and costly to clean-up and if notcontrolled can result in breach of environmental legislation. The RWM exhibition is being held at the NEC, Birmingham, UK from11-13th September 2012. It is running alongside both The Energy Eventand The Renewables Event so visit Kingfisher in Hall19 on stand N38 tosee how these issues can be solved and how quickly your ROI can beachieved on both replacement and new process plant and equipment. For complimentary tickets contact Kingfisher directly at www.kingfisher-industrial.com

Kingfisher solutions are widely used in MRF (Materials Recycling Facilities) sites to separate fibrous material fromglass and other recycled materials, for more information visit us at RWM 2012 stand number N38 Hall 19.
