Swim Academy. lenny Krayzelburg is a four

time Olympic Gold Medalist who has taught

water SAFETY to thousands of children. Krayzelburg’smethod focuses on providing campers with CONFIDENCE

and safety in and out of the water in addition to

mastering new SKIllS.

basketball, volleyball, and unique sports such as ga-ga,

archery, and fencing, campers learn new skills, discover

Camp is an AMAzING JOURNEY as campers trek to some of the area’s most ENTERTAINING amusement destinations. Depending on the age of the camper, the summer

calendar is sure to include stops at AMUSEMENT and WATER PARKS,

PROFESSIONAl SPORTING EvENTS, zOOS and more such as Great Adventure, Dorney

Park, Club Getaway overnight, Hershey Park, Keansburg Amusement Park, movies, roller

Campers are CAPTIvATED and AMAzED with incredible shows such as

Medieval Times, Jousting, Powerhouse’s Wild and Wacky Challenge, the traveling

Israeli Caravan Musical Troupe and extreme magic. They are kept FASCINATEDby one of a kind, hands on WORKSHOPS with fun themes such as circus arts,

archeological digs, drum circles and frisbee tricks all instructed

by professionals in the field, Camp is also highlighted

with weekly SPECIAl EvENTS such as carnivals,

OPTIONS to accommodate our diverse group of camp

families. Our ExTENDED HOURS program allows children

to keep the fun going from early in the morning until late

in the evening. Our DElICIOUS hot and cold Kosher lunch

Campers enjoy up to eight weeks of a FUN and ENRICHING camp experience filled with

tons of INCREDIBlE ACTIvITIES. We offer music, soccer, nature, drama, kickball, pioneering, basketball,

swimming, Israeli culture, archery, dance, football, outdoor cooking, arts & crafts, softball, volleyball, boating,

karate, Animal Discovery, ga-ga and more, all led by our team of HIGHlY qUAlIFIED specialists.

Our caring and diverse team of camp counselors fill the campers’ days with outdoor fun and create

an atmosphere which promotes SElF-ESTEEM, POSITIvE vAlUES, SKIll DEvElOPMENT and GOOD

SPORTSMANSHIP. Camp is further enhanced by trips, exciting theme weeks, special events and

shows, spirited Oneg Shabbat celebrations and our annual camp-wide Maccabi games. Campers develop

and enhance their swim skills through daily instruction and enjoy free swim periods to just have fun!

Chalutz Hobby Hour Chalutz Campers get to select their favorite

specialists and visit them again one extra

Teen program that combines counselor training,

travel, and community service work

Ages: Teens entering Grade 9 and 10

5 full days

(Upon completion of a successful season,

each CIT will receive a $50 honorarium.)

CIT I/Camp Etgar is the ideal program to meet the unique

needs of the teen interested in increasing responsibility and

teen travel. CIT I/Etgar teens get a taste of being a camp

counselor, go on great trips and play a role in healing the

world. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, teens work with children and

begin to learn the skills of being a camp counselor. On Mondays

and Wednesdays, they go on trips like Camel Beach and Dorney

Park and on Fridays they participate in fun and meaningful

community service projects, such as organizing a car wash, that

help to make the world a better place.

Ages: Teens entering grades 7 - 9

Travel to your favorite summer

locations and explore some

new ones... every day.

Camp Nesiyah features great day trips and amazing overnights.

Every day, you and your friends will visit the best water parks,

bowling alleys, arcades, amusement parks, sporting events and

movie theatres that the metropolitan area has to offer.

Destinations are sure to include Club Getaway, Mountain Creek Waterpark,

Seaside Heights, Camel Beach, Manhattan, outdoor laser tag, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and a Broadway Show. The summer is highlighted by incredible overnights.

* Teens entering grade 9 have the option of attending CIT I or Teen Travel Camp.

Development and Great Trips

Ages: Teens entering grade 10

5 full days

(Upon successful completion of program,

each CIT will receive a $100 honorarium.

Make a difference in the life of a child. Spend your summer with the JCC getting on the job

training and experience working with children. As a CIT, you will learn basic information on kid

relating skills, child development and how to lead games. CITs also go on great weekly trips to

places like Great Adventure, Dorney Park, Seaside Heights and a two day/one night overnight.

CITs are required to attend training and orientation sessions prior to and during the camp season.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for employment at the JCC camp.

Summer Camp for Children with Diabetes4 week program: July 5 - July 29

Camp Independence is a four week summer camp program for

children with diabetes.

Children experience a full day of recreational activities including

daily swimming, sports, arts and crafts, music, boating, karate, dance,

pioneering, special event days and more. The program also includes

weekly trips to places like Keansburg Amusement Park and Fun Time

America.

Besides the wonderful activities at the camp, the children receive special training and information

regarding diabetes and are encouraged to share their concerns with staff and their fellow campers.

Camp Independence employs a dedicated staff which receives special training in diabetes care.

In addition to the camp’s full time nurse, another nurse with a strong background in diabeticcare works exclusively at Camp Independence as a staff member. This nurse travels

with the children throughout the camp day.

Ages: 6 - teens

6 week program: July 5 - August 12

This program provides an educational, creative, socially and emotionally

safe environment for children and teens with special needs.

Children experience a full day of recreational activities, including

daily swimming, sports, arts and crafts, music, boating, dance,

pioneering, special event days and more. The program also

includes weekly trips to places like amusement parks,

cultural events, and shows.

Marvin’s Camp employs a dedicated staff which receives specialtraining in working with children with special needs. Our small

groups and low camper to counselor ratio enables us to provide

excellent care and attention to each camper.

The camp is committed to providing children with a positive

and enriching day camp experience and to enhancing the

camper’s activities of daily living..

JCC Soccer Academy The goal of the JCC Soccer Academy is to teach campers

soccer skills. Campers will learn the art of dribbling, shooting,

passing, goal tending and defensive tactics.

Week Three- July 25-29,

Take Your Game to the Next level

Baseball CampDan lynch Instructional Baseball Camp teaches

baseball skills in all facets of the game including

fielding, base running and strategy. Campers will

spend the entire week living and breathing baseball.

Weeks Four & Five- August 1-5 & 8-12

Mike Reape’s Get Better Basketball CampCampers at Basketball Camp will develop and improve

basketball skills such as shooting, passing, dribbling,

rebounding and defense. Mike’s Basketball Camp immerses campers in the sport, giving them the kind of focused, intensive training that is essential to improvement. Over the course of the camp

week, self-confidence will grow along with skills and overall appreciation of the game.

Gymnastics Camp begins Tuesday, June 29

Avis/South Shore JCC, 1297 Arthur Kill Road

The JCC and Richmond Gymnastics Center have partnered to offer the most

comprehensive and exciting summer gymnastics program on Staten Island.

The air conditioned gymnastics facility, Staten Island’s largest, is located at the Avis/South Shore JCC.

The Richmond Gymnastics Center, with more than 30

years of experience, has trained Staten Island’s finestgymnasts. A typical day, which adheres to the USA

Junior Olympic program guidelines, includes training on

uneven parallel bars, floor tumbling, balance beam and

vault. The Richmond Gymnastics Center is committed to

promoting the physical and emotional health of children.

5 Full Days

Gan Israel campers are imbued with a deep sense of pride

in their Jewish heritage. Weekly Judaic themes are taught

through activities, stories, games and

contests that are part of the unique Gan Israel experience.

Combined with discussions and educational programs, we bring

to life the beauty and values of our traditions.

Days are filled with diverse, exciting recreational

activities such as sports, swimming, creative crafts, drama,

Shabbat experiences and Jewish-themed programs. All activities are carefully

chosen to instill a spirit of sportsmanship, self-confidence, leadership and creativity.

Gan Israel counselors serve as positive role models, providing an enriching summer experience

and personal attention and guidance at all times.

Gan Israel is affiliated with Chabad lubavitch of Staten Island.

Post camp programs take place at the Bernikow JCC and meets

from 9am to 4pm. Camp will include swim, crafts, cooking, sports

and lego Robotic Option!

Extended hours are available from 8am to 9am and 3:30pm to 7pm.

Week One: Monday, August 22 through Friday, August 26

Week Two: Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 2

We are partnering with the New Jersey “Y” Camps to offer campersa one-week overnight experience on a beautiful 1,250-acre

location in Milford, PA, just 90 minutes away from NYC. The facility

includes beautiful cabins, two lakes, two swimming pools, extensive ropes challenge courses, and incredible

sports and arts facilities. Campers may choose one of two options.

Option 1: SlEEP-A-WEEK: Ages: Children entering grades 3 through 6. Dates: July 25 - 29

Fee includes meals and all activities. Campers participate in a wide variety of activities including outdoor

adventure, aquatics, arts, athletics and evening activities. Staff is carefully selected and are skilled in dealing

with issues that might arise with first time overnight campers.

Option 2: SlEEP-A-WEEK SPECIAlTY: Ages: Children entering grades 1 through 10

Dates: August 7 - 12

Fee includes meals and all activities. Campers experience the overnight camp adventure described above,

plus get to immerse themselves in one activity that they love for four hours a day, six days a week.

Select SlEEP-A-WEEK and add a concentration in one of the following activities, all taught by well trained

and highly regarded specialists.

Camp never ends at the JCC! We believe that the FRIENDSHIPS and FUN should continue to develop and

be nurtured by our staff year round! Campers can sign up for KIDz KlUB AFTERSCHOOl PROGRAMS and be bused right from school to the JCC, Camp Nights, COURSES

such as Mad Science, Animal Encounter and Junior Chef, JCC University one shot WORKSHOPS, school’s out TRIPS, boy/and girl SCOUTS, SPORTS programs and music lessons!

Teen campers can choose from programs such as leaders of Tomorrow and Youth Board, which are TEEN DRIvEN and enable

teens to plan, organize and runtheir own events and trips.

MembershipJCC Gold or Platinum Family Membership is required to enroll your

child in camp. Both memberships are good for one year from the timeyour camp application is received. Memberships that expire during thecamp season must be renewed by May 31.JCC Gold Family Membership allows your family to participate in

programs and activities at both JCC buildings, and use of the FitnessCenter at the Avis/South Shore JCC.JCC Platinum Membership entitles your family to all of the benefits

of Gold Membership and allows your family to use the Fitness Center,indoor swimming pool and outdoor swim club at the Bernikow JCC. Formore information contact Jill Gottlieb, Membership Director at718.475.5223.

Fee Deposit/RefundA $200 deposit must accompany each application for each childregistering for camp. In accepting a deposit, the JCC reserves a placefor each camper. Therefore, deposits are non-refundable. There is noreduction or refund of fees due to absence, illness or withdrawals.

Credit CardsYou may use a credit card (American Express, Mastercard or Visa) topay for your camp deposit. You may also spread your camp paymentsout through May 31, 2011 via credit card authorization. (Early Bird onlyuntil April 15, 2011).

Early BirdIn order to receive the Early Bird fees, the following conditions must be met:1) Deposit must be made by February 15, 2011.2) Membership, camp and bus fees must be paid in full by April 15, 2011.

Sibling DiscountThe JCC will deduct $100 for each additional child after the first, whenyou enroll each child in camp for 5 full days a week for the 8 weeksession.

late PaymentIf full payment is not received by May 31, 2011, there may be a delay insending out your child's bus and group cards. Please make every effortto pay your bill in a timely manner since arrangements for an efficientcamp must be made in advance.

ScholarshipConfidential fee adjustments and payment plans based on need maybe arranged by contacting the JCC. Applications are processed on afirst come, first served basis. Fees are based ONLY on applicant's abil-ity to pay; they do not apply to Early Bird rates. Scholarship not avail-able for transportation fees and some camp programs. For scholarshipinformation please contact Stacey Mathies at 718.475.5261.

TransportationFor an additional fee bus transportation is available to and from campeach day.

Camp HoursTraditional camp car drop off at Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds isbetween 8:00am and 8:45am. After 8:45am the parking lot gate isclosed and parents must park their car and escort their child to the campoffice. The regular camp day ends at 3:45pm for campers dismissed atBernikow JCC and 4:15pm for campers dismissed at Henry KaufmannCampgrounds.

Special NeedsCamp administration should be made aware of any special needs of theindividual camper. Advance notice and an intake interview are required.

lunch ProgramWe are offering fresh, hot and cold kosher lunches this summer. Themenu of kid friendly lunches will include pizza, chicken nuggets, hot dogsand more. All meals are served with fresh fruit and an ice cold fruit juice.There is an additional fee for this program.

Project ChallahAs a service to our families we sell Kosher challahs for Shabbat. Thechallahs are distributed on Friday afternoons. See camp application forprice.

Extended HoursExtended Hours give kids an opportunity to have even more fun at campwhile allowing busy parents more flexibility. Extended Hours are offeredMonday through Friday from 7:15 - 8:00am and 4:00 - 7:00pm. Morningextended hours are at the campgrounds and afternoon extended hoursare held at the Bernikow JCC. Campers are supervised by JCC camp staffand participate in activities such as swim, sports, arts and crafts andmore. Campers may be signed up for morning hours, afternoon hours orboth. There is an additional fee for this program.

General Information• A completed health form must be submitted by May 31, 2011 (or with registration if after May 31st) in order to attend camp. • Each camper receives two camp T-shirts (teen travel campers receive 3)• Kosher snacks and drinks are provided to all campers daily.
