Webjam JamJar: Digital media in internal communication The DigiAwards 2010 Best use of digital media in internal communications The JamJar is a private intranet therefore we will use screenshots to demonstrate the site. First we will show the top-down and bottom-up approaches to finding and adding content. Top-Down Approach (screenshot 3/3)One project within the IDeA Projects and Work Groups is ‘Branding discussions’ – a separate site dedicated to discussing changes to Webjam’s visual branding. These discussions form the basis of documentation, such as the Interface Style Guide.

Bottom-Up Approach (screenshot 1/3)Each employee of Webjam has a personalised homepage on JamJar that includes a section with a feed of all content from sites within the JamJar channel that they are a member of.

Bottom-Up Approach (screenshot 2/3)Magnification of the posts within the content-feed section. Above the posted content is the employee’s username (e.g. Tom) and a link to the site where the post was made (e.g. Webjam.com 2010 – Discussions). Comments can be made about the post and content can be ‘liked’.

Bottom-Up Approach (screenshot 3/3)On the homepage the Top networks module display the most active sites within JamJar, whilst Top Jammers is a reputation module showing the employees who have made the most contributions (by adding posts, making comments or liking posts). A feed of the ‘webjamdotcom’ Twitter account is also displayed.

Webjammers HR page All employees are listed in the Team Directory. Each entry includes a photo, title and contact details which can be edited by the employee. Also listed are employee birthdays, quick links to employee profile pages and a link to information from HR.

Beta feedback In order to ensure the site meets employee needs there is a page with three forums where employees can offer suggestions of improvements to the usability and design. By using our own product the Webjam team gain insights to help our clients.

The Lounge The Lounge is a social page within the JamJar where employees can share interesting non-work related material, for example this was where our World Cup sweep was organised and photos of our recent day out were added.

Webjam Corporate The Webjam Corporate site is one of several places where employees can contribute to discussions on making life at Webjam easier, fun and our office environment better. Information in this area is accessed by the Management team.
