HTML● The present and the foreseeable direction of user interfaces (UI) for software
applications can be summed up by the well known phrase (modified) 'All roads lead to HTML'
● The history of HTML can be tracked right back to the birth of the World Wide Web (the Internet) in 1989 by Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee, OM, KBE, FRS, FREng, FRSA (born 8 June 1955), also known as "TimBL,"
● Today over 90% software UIs are HTML based. This is mainly attributed to the overwhelming growth and success of the Internet for reach, application delivery and maintenance, collaboration and communication.
● HTML has been and is gobbling up alternative and competing UI technologies at a rapid pace.

● Its latest implementation HTML 5 provides the sophistication for rich user interfaces, offline storage, access to raw PC processing and graphics.
● To add to this, it has wide industry support across the board from all the tier 1 IT establishments
● Initiatives such as Responsive Web Design (RWD) will spur HTML to dominate and consolidate its position on the mobile and tablet devices space.
● Mobile and tablet specific platforms and technologies are scattered, disruptive and subjected to constant change.
● Developing platform specific applications will emerge to be counter productive and costly. Akin to the software application UI cycle which the PC industry went through.
