A few examples of Harvard School of Public Health’s recent and historical contributions to the field of nutrition include:

• Proving and publicizing the dangers of transfats, helping to bring about new labeling requirements, bans, and the removal of these heart-harming fats from many packaged foods and restaurants.

• Demonstrating that not all fats are bad for our health and revolutionizing how the U.S. government and health experts worldwide give nutritional advice.

• Conducting the Nurses’ Health Studies, some of the largest and most important long-term studies of health ever undertaken. These studies have followed hundreds of thousands of nurses for more than 35 years, providing critical insights on women’s health, cancer prevention, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and more.

• Creating The Nutrition Source, a free online resource that translates nutrition science into clear advice used by millions of individuals and families in the U.S. and around the globe.

• Working to improve school lunches in Boston Public Schools and across the country.

• Educating generations of experts in nutrition and leaders in science, clinical medicine, health policy, health care delivery, and more.
