Summer 2012 Theme Everyday Heroes: Ordinary People using God’s extraordinary Power When this summer began we had no idea that the theme and Laura Story’s song “Blessings” would be lived out personally for many of our staff: they would be ordinary weak people who became everyday heroes through God’s extraordinary power. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” This also ministered to Ruth as she fell down the face of a rock and had multiple injuries during a SEEDS outing and yet was able to keep working with the girls and their needs, seeing God through it all. We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love, as if every promise from Your Word is not enough. And all the while You hear each desperate plea and long that we'd have faith to believe. 'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops? What if Your healing comes through tears? And what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near? At campfires, many campers shared the deep trials and struggles they are facing, but a third of our campers rededicated their lives to the Lord or made first-time decisions to accept eternal salvation through Jesus Christ, proof of the Spirit at work. But it was also reflective of the staff meeting the challenges of ministry in spite of their weaknesses, using the extraordinary power of prayer to an extraordinary God Who heard and answered. Oh, how it increased our faith in our great God. Please join us in continued prayer for the campers who return to their trials at home and for the staff, some of whom are still tired or not feeling completely well, yet heading off to new jobs and colleges. (The flu bug that bit was mean and nasty!) We would also ask that you pray for Sarah whose roommate has decided to move back home - so Sarah is once again looking for housing near Trinity International University where she works. A blessing? God knows and yes, He blesses. (A blessing in July was our vacation trip with Sarah to the Rockiesover for pictures!) NEWS FLASH!! A huge blessing and praise we want to share with you: Jason is happily engaged to a sweet girl who loves the Lord (and loves Jason too!), Heather DeLany, also from Milwaukee. They are planning a winter wedding and will continue to live and work in Milwaukee. (Pictures on the back!) You love, support, & pray with us through ministry and all kinds of blessings! Thank you! Summer 2012 Theme

Everyday Heroes: Ordinary People using God’s extraordinary Power

When this summer began we had no idea that the theme and Laura Story’s song “Blessings” would be lived out

personally for many of our staff: they would be ordinary weak people who became everyday heroes through

God’s extraordinary power. The incredible blessings of this summer would come with trials, illness and

accidents in more numbers than in any other summer.

The 7-9th

grade SEEDS girls that Ruth worked with studied the book of James, growing in their faith and

understanding that the trials of their lives help them grow and are not always a judgment of God, but sometimes

a blessing. James 1:2-5 says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers (and sisters), whenever you face trials of many

kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work

so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God,

who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” This also ministered to Ruth as

she fell down the face of a rock and had multiple injuries during a SEEDS outing and yet was able to keep

working with the girls and their needs, seeing God through it all.

The Song: “Blessings”

We pray for blessings; we pray for peace. Comfort for family, protection while we sleep. We pray

for healing, for prosperity. We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering. And all the while

You hear each spoken need, yet love us way too much to give us lesser things.

We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear. We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near. We doubt

Your goodness, we doubt Your love, as if every promise from Your Word is not enough. And all the

while You hear each desperate plea and long that we'd have faith to believe.

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops? What if Your healing comes through tears?

And what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near? And what if trials of

this life are Your mercies in disguise?
