Summary
Incumbents in the Manager series plan, direct, and oversee the operations and budget of a University department or unit. They oversee and lead the work of a team of employees representing at least two different skills.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Manager III is distinguished from the Manager I in that incumbents in the II level direct a work unit that is larger in size, scope, and complexity than work units directed by a Manager II.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
The Manager II reports to a Director or Assistant Director. This classification supervises full, part-time, and/or student employees.
Typical Functions
1. Manages the day to day operations of assigned area.2. Manages personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, disciplinary functions, and all
associated paperwork.3. Develops and maintains policies and procedures.4. May supervise the maintenance of buildings, including organizing daily schedules, inspecting and
monitoring work areas, and examining equipment for reliability. 5. May oversee housing, including checking residents in and out, inspecting conditions, assessing
damages, and overseeing maintenance. 6. May participate in various aspects of maintenance management, including enforcing safety
procedures, working with the Fire Marshal, etc.7. May develop annual budget to include capital expenditures.8. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and employment laws and
regulations. 9. Orders inventory and supplies; develops and maintains inventory management controls.10. Coordinates with third party vendors.11. Reviews expenditures, approves purchases, and determines labor budget.12. Participates on committees as requested.13. May plan and execute special events.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 30 pounds).
