WELCOME

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the 2014 HRO Today Forum. This year we will be exploring the painfully obvious, the abundantly clear, and the ridiculously self evident. What is so easy to demonstrate yet so often not highlighted to the balance of business leadership? The value of HR!

This year’s theme is about the HR Value Equation. Great HR + Great Workforce = Great Business Outcomes. Something so intuitively apparent is often overlooked and far too little credit is given to many HR departments for the linkage between HR programming and the performance of an organization.

We will be exploring new research, engaging in facilitated topic table discussions on key issues (make sure you sign up for your areas of interest). We will be hearing from dozens of thought leaders, chief HR officers, and leading HR service and technology provider executives. We will have a unique track addressing the complex world of HR in the healthcare industry. We will be evaluating new technology during the iTalent competition and rewarding innovative products with the TekTonic Awards. We will be announcing the 2014 HRO Today Magazine Managed Service Program Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction Survey results. We will be hearing from innovators like the CHRO of MGM Resorts that now executes employee orientation with an employee volunteer musical troupe. You can witness an intimate on-stage conversation with the HR executive who is managing a great deal of the workforce integration from the merger of American Airlines and US Airways forming the largest airline in the world. And that is just the start of the list of great programs.

We also are partnering with the Wharton Center for HR Studies led by Professor Peter Cappelli, NY Times best-selling nonfiction author, and one of the leading voices in the world of human resources. Their track demystifies the uses and opportunities presented by the big data trend in business. Be prepared for some very interesting and thought-provoking research. Please join us in thanking Wharton for their support for our program and if your company is interested in supporting the Center for HR Studies, please find Professor Cappelli or me during the event.

Also, we hope you are planning to attend the HRO Today Magazine Chief HR Officer of the Year Awards dinner. Twelve finalists for the awards will be attending and we are excited to have CHROs from some of the top companies in the world, each with a host of personal achievements. These individuals should be an inspiration to all of the members of this profession.

We want to thank our sponsors and I want to thank the phenomenal editorial and marketing team at SharedXpertise that have developed this program. This will set a new standard for the HRO Today Forums and we are excited you could join us. Thank you for adding your voice to the conversation about the future of human resources management.

Elliot H. Clark, CEO, SharedXpertiseChairman, HRO Today Forum

TIME SESSION ROOM

1:45 pm - 2:15 pm A Data-Driven Approach to Exploring Internal Hiring & Mobility Salon I & II Ballroom

This session will describe the results of a collaborative project between Wharton and a large health insurance company, focusing on improving their understanding of mobility within the organization through promotions, role expansions and transfers. We will discuss the data used, how that data was assembled, and the insights gained from connecting data typically located in different organizational silos. The most interesting results come from a detailed exploration of how current employees use the company’s job posting system and a comparison of the quality and costs of internal hires made through the formal job posting system compared to internal hires made informally by individual hiring managers.

Jill Goldstein, Global Offering Lead, HR BPO, Accenture Jill Goldstein joined Accenture in 2006 and leads HR and learning BPO services globally for Accenture. Everyone has big data. It’s meaningless unless leveraged in the right context using analytics that drive toward your business goals.

The Wharton Track at the HRO Today Forum, North America will focus on the transformation of big data into actionable information for business. The track will feature four sessions. A few of the sessions will focus on people analytics. What the data we collect on employees tells us about them and the predictive value of this data for behavior, engagement and productivity based on the latest Wharton research. The balance of the sessions will feature executives and case studies from companies that exemplify best practices in the use of big data.

Absence of detailed data on the job market has impeded employers’ ability to make informed forward-looking decisions about how to train and develop talent – particularly where jobs or skills are likely to prove hard-to-fill. The emergence of real-time sources of job market intelligence offer firms the ability to track the market in real time and take a long view on talent acquisition.

Talent Acquisition Track In the war for talent organizations must develop a multi-layered talent acquisition approach in order to gain a competitive edge and attract coveted passive candidates. A talent acquisition strategy should be high-touch—engaging with candidates throughout the entire lifecycle from application to hire to onboard. Technology powers organizations to elevate the candidate experience. Social media channels offer the opportunity to deliver engaging content and reinforce employment branding to top talent.

Hosted By:

Get Proactive: Best Practices in Talent Acquisition

Recruitment isn’t simply posting jobs, screening resumes and interviewing candidates. In today’s competitive war for talent, companies must have a proactive recruitment strategy to be recognized by candidates as a top employer. Building relationships and making meaningful connections with candidates is imperative for companies to attract and recruit high-quality talent.

Kristin Shulman, Marketing & Communications Manager, Global Talent Acquisition, Allegis Global Solutions In her current role as marketing & communications manager for Allegis Global Solutions (AGS), Kristin Shulman is dedicated to employer branding, talent acquisition marketing and social media strategies for the global talent acquisition program at CA Technologies. It is her responsibility to ensure key employer value proposition (EVP) and strategic talent acquisition priorities are aligned and relevant as CA Technologies positions themselves as an employer of choice in their industry. Using our proprietary 21st Century Resourcing solution, Shulman partners with the program operations team to develop and implement strategies which guarantee consistency in vision, approach and training. Kristin has worked closely with CA Technologies since she joined AGS in 2011.

Meagan Gregorczyk, Director, Human Resources, CA Technologies In the world of HR, it’s easy to get caught up in the seriousness of it all – especially as women in a fastpaced, male-dominated industry like IT. A unique voice of the millennial generation, Meagan Gregorczyk, director of talent at CA Technologies, brings a passionate and humorous voice to the field of employment brand and the employee experience. Meagan’s vision for the adaptation of CA’s Employee Value Proposition has been fueled both by her background in Communications and her passion for creating amazing leaders that build strong corporate brands.

The workforce is continuously evolving, and so too are the challenges of attracting and retaining the right people to build business results. There are myriad routes to making a Company an Employer of Choice, including creation of a strong employment brand, navigating the wide range of recruiting technologies available, and understanding what drives candidate perception. As a 35 year old Fortune 500 Software Vendor, CA Technologies had a social media presence and had made a few attempts at defining its true EVP, but the efforts lacked consistency – and didn’t resonate well with candidates or leverage corporate resources in a structured way. By employing technology to help empower CA Technologies, Allegis Global Solutions began building bridges that connected talent communities and supported smart community relations that built a strong talent pipeline. At the same time, the company’s market presence and its corporate Culture and Core values were made core pillars of the EVP – attracting candidates that were a great fit for the culture and business imperatives before them. By using key candidate demographics, determining online avenues to extend reach, and establishing an Employment Brand that aligns corporate signposts and candidate interests, it’s possible to deliver a formula that brings in the right candidates, at the right time, every time.

AGENDA – WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2014 – ENABLING TECHNOLOGY TRACK SESSION

TIME SESSION ROOM

As companies strive to find a more effective way to build top performing workforces, they are challenged with finding the technology enhancements that will add value to their efforts. From candidate relationship management and social and mobile technologies to gamification, big data, and other talent acquisition practices there is a plethora of technologies to choose from. How do organizations leverage technology to effectively engage top talent, market their employment brands, and attract individuals with a positive candidate experience?

Elaine Orler, President and Founder, Talent Function Group Elaine Orler, president and founder of Talent Function Group and chairman of the Talent Board, has been involved in developing and implementing HR solutions since 1993. Well regarded as a leading industry expert, many companies have depended on her knowledge in talent management and recruitment strategy, process, and technology to further their organizations.

11:45 am - 12:30 pm SaaS – Practical Lessons from HR Buyer Directors Room

As HR SaaS providers like Workday, SAP Employee Central, and others storm the market, how does the new technology offering affect clients who need updated systems, and those who have already outsourced HR/payroll services? Nearly all HR sourcing decisions today require an evaluation of HR technology and the HR services that support it, including popular new SaaS offerings. ISG will present highlights from our experiences with more than 25 multi-process clients seeking new or renewed HR/payroll outsourcing. Hear the trends in evaluating ERP/cloud technology, and the outcomes.

Julie Fernandez, Director, ISG With more than 20 years’ experience in outsourcing and the HR services industry, Julie Fernandez has led clients through some of TPI’s most complex global assessments and transactions. She recently developed the industry’s only global payroll filtering tool and methodology, and leads global clients in their evaluation of HR technology and service sourcing alternatives.

Enabling Technology Track Session It is unmistakable that the HR technology industry has been revolutionized. Cloud-based HR systems are now available from many of the largest vendors in the market. These systems integrate payroll, HRMS, talent management and analytics processing into a single cloud-based service. Many HR leaders are challenged with mobile tools and new social recruiting systems that are making many of the legacy HR systems obsolete.

8:30 am – 9:15 am Benchmarking Your HR Delivery Independence Room

Jeff Croyle, Partner in Charge ISG Global HR Advisory Services Jeff is the Partner in charge of ISG’s Global HR Advisory services. In that role, he has overall responsibility for all the firm’s services related to HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, HR Technology/SaaS, etc. In his 11 years with ISG, Jeff has focused almost exclusively on helping complex, global companies identify the best HR delivery models and technologies as well as supporting the implementation of these solutions. Recently, Jeff has managed strategic assessments, HCM and talent management SaaS selections, remediation projects, mid-contract assessments, sole-source renewals and competitive RFP processes. In fact, Jeff led the largest multi-process HRO RFPs to go to market in each of 2012 and 2013.

As an HR leader, you are often asked “how does our HR delivery compare relative to our peers?” It’s easy to think that no other firm is a good match to compare against. Your technology platforms are different, your geographic footprint is unique, no other firm has the same diversity of your employee population, etc. Yet many HR organizations have successfully leveraged an HR benchmarking study to evaluate how their delivery costs and quality of delivery match up to similar organizations. In this session, ISG will present information on HR benchmarking along with some case study results.
