Due to my extensive knowledge of processing systems, I serve as the Subject Matter Expert in processing and help manage and continuously train six Human Resources Assistants. I provide guidance to the Assistants on problematic cases of an unusual or controversial nature. Provide assistance on processing corrections to applied actions to include leave and/or pay reconstructions, benefits, entitlements, and service computation dates. In the absence of my Supervisor, I serve as liaison between Human Resources Assistants, Human Resources Specialists and Agency Management. Recognized by Management for my expertise in processing, I am continually requested to identify and address issues that may impact the efficiency of tasks and work between our HR Assistants and HR Specialists and recommend solutions for process improvement. I constantly conduct research to keep abreast of current rules and regulations pertaining to processing and ensure that it is disseminated to staff. I serve as mentor to new HR Assistants. Provide instruction and guidance to customers and personnel on submission of applications and benefit entitlements to include FEHB, FEGLI, and TSP. Provide advice and assistance to six Human Resources Assistants and nine Human Resources Specialists in my branch, in addition to human resources personnel from other branches on processing requirements and use of newly integrated systems. Process actions with different pay structures and/or appointment limitations, and resolve a variety of processing problems. Coordinate with National Finance Center (NFC) on cases that require adjustment by NFC. Perform and train HR Assistants on orientation policies and procedures. Orientation tasks include collecting pay and benefit documents, explaining benefits, entitlements, nature of appointment, agency pay schedule and administering oath. Created several dynamic databases using Microsoft Access to improve accountability, production, and reporting of workload for use by our management, assistants and specialists. Used Microsoft Access to track workload and prepare statistical reports for workload assignments. Using Microsoft Access, I was able to retrieve information from shared drive database and provide statistics on the number of actions processed during a given time frame. This information was used by my Branch Chief and senior staff to assist in evaluating workload and performance. Participated in testing of all new systems being implemented into our HR branch. Because of my Information Technology (IT) background and experience with databases and HR systems, I was invited to attend high level conference calls with management and the IT core team during the systems analysis and design stage of a new customer portal system.
