Soft drink industry

The soft drink industry is made up of two major manufacturing systems that, taken together, bring soft drinks to the market. These two systems fall in 2 categories

1. Flavouring syrup and concentrate manufacturing2. Soft drink manufacturing The beverage industry is extremely competitive, with private labels greatly influencing the

environment. The soft drink market is not one market it is a collection of markets with many different

types of products, processes and requirements. The beverage market includes several types of products that can be grouped into 2

categories.1. Alcoholic (beer, wine)2. Non-alcoholic(carbonated soft drinks, juices, sports drinks) Within the beverage industry, the soft drink market has been growing significntly in the

recent years.

The first coca cola was invented in georgia by john stith pemberton The coca cola company is no.1 soft drink maker, it’s the largest in its class. Coca-Cola currently offers nearly 400 brands in over 200 countries and serves 1.5 billion

servings each day. Coca-cola’s main competitor is PEPSI, as we know there is a similarity in the taste of the soft

drinks produced by both the companies, but coke’s reputation, taste and huge varieties of its beverages has gained the customer satisfaction and made the company market leader.

Pepsi is often second to coke in terms of sales, but outsells in some localities.

JOB ANALYSIS AND DESIGN• Job analysis is the procedure for determining the duties and skill requirements of a job

and the kind of a person who should be hired for the job. job analysis is divided into 2 processes they are

• job description- a list of job duties,responsibilities,reporting relationship, working conditions and supervisory responsibilities.

• Job specification-a list of a job’s human requirement that is education,skills etc.

In coca-cola company• Coca cola company’s hr department checks its own job description and job analysis in

which they get the information about the employees work activities, human behaviour, performance standard, job context and human requirements and also other information related to his conduct.

• Hr department of coca cola use this information for recruiting,selection,compensation performance appraisal, training and employee relationship.

Planning and forecasting• The process of deciding what all positions should be filled by the firm , and

how to fill them.

• Coca Cola HR department involves in company strategic planning and they also make sufficient planning for hiring new employees in the future.

• Coca cola forecasts for the expected employees needs in the organisation. Its basically done on the change of technology and increasing in productivity.

• After planning, this report is sent to the head office for the approval. If the approval is given from the head office, the recruitment process is started

newspapers,company website, institutions etc.

• Once the company recieves an application form from the candidate with required document and CV, he will be called for the interview.

Training process of employees

• training process is essential part of every employee, with out training we wont be able to know about the employee’s procedure of work.

• Rules and regulations of the firm, sometimes when new technology is introduced, it is the responsibility of a firm to train its employees.

• ‘After recruiting the fresh employees we train them for three months and also pay them salaries, after three months they become part of the firm’. says coke

• The company gives training to the existing employees also, it depends upon the condition of the employee.

• For example if new technology is introduced first, the company trains the employees, after they are training completes then they are allowed to start their job.

Performance appraisal• ‘Coca cola’s performance appraisal is annually done’ says HR manager WAQAR

MAHMOOD, the further tells that we appraise the employee on their performance on achieving the goals of the organisation.

• we set goals at the beginning of the year and the employees are given goals to achieve, if the employee meets the goals then we appraise him/her.

• Steps in appraising performance• Define the job• Making sure that you and your subordinate agree on his or her duties and job

standard.

• Appraise performance• Comparing your subordinates actual performance to the standards that have been

set.

• Provide feedback• Means discuss the subordinate’s performance and progress, and make plans for
